Reporter: What kind of business model can make cloud computing really "landed"?

Song: Cloud computing for a long time, but so far, the industry is still groping, is the business model. How to do a good business model, there are three elements, one is, how do companies do cloud computing? Do you build it yourself, or do you buy a cloud service? Who should I buy? is the person who sells the service a telecom operator, or a company like Baidu or Alibaba? or between the two in the gold data, million-dimensional data such companies, with whom to buy services? Second, What is the billing method when buying a cloud service? Third, if there is a conflict, who has the credibility to solve the problem. When these three things are in place, the implementation of cloud computing can be completely landed, allowing everyone to enjoy the benefits of the cloud.

Reporter: At present, different companies are talking about cloud computing, there is no unified cloud computing standards, each said, and even some companies are based on their own advantages to propose a cloud computing program. But what kind of cloud computing does the user really need?

Song: From an IT practitioner's point of view, I think that cloud computing brings a few subversion, the first subversion, from the user side, users will not be subject to any one device restrictions. Any future user will be free to use these applications and data. The second subversion is applied, and all devices should be cross-platform, whether it be Windows, UNIX or Linux, and no longer have constraints. The third subversion is virtualization, which will completely liberate the traditional physical resources of each other's very close environment, different physical resources will be integrated to apply.

Only by doing this can it be said that the real cloud computing, rather than standing in their own interests to play their past advantages of the cloud computing program. I personally think this cloud computing wave is very large, VMware think in the cloud, we stand in a position of comparative strategy, but I am sometimes very worried, we are not also the baggage of the past. We should not only review our baggage is what, to remove this baggage, only such enterprises can do cloud computing.

Reporter: Industry enterprises are doing cloud computing, although there are many different, but are in the user-oriented. From this point of view, cloud computing will also converge. In the future, where is the ultimate in cloud computing?

Song: I think the real application and data, those who really master the application data of the Service Chamber of Commerce to win. Manufacturers do not feel that they are too smart, really grasp the application and data is the customer, as well as some partners, we must find these people. In China, there is a big difference, the government is absolutely important, this is more than any other government's power, so we must see what direction the government is pushing. With these three things in hand, I think clients, partners, and governments will have a much greater chance of winning in the end by mastering key application data. Good products are not necessarily the final winners, there are too many examples in history. In the case of cloud computing, the most important thing is to be aware of this.

China's "government cloud" develops ahead

Journalist: Is it necessary for the Chinese government to vigorously develop cloud computing, even as local governments have regarded cloud computing as a pillar industry for boosting the economy? What is the benefit to the development of cloud computing industry?

Song: I think the country in the "Twelve-Five" to put cloud computing in the macro consideration, is actually in the establishment of economic behavior, not a pure scientific and technological behavior, so the current government to promote cloud computing projects, can be interpreted as political and economic behavior, not simply a scientific and technological behavior. But from this point of view, the Government must think in terms of economics when it comes to advancing the cloud computing project.

Reporter: Cloud computing generally has public cloud, private cloud, mixed cloud and so on, also has from the service provider's angle, named commercial cloud, telecommunication cloud, but VMware company launched "Government Cloud" plan, how is this defined?

Song: And our government to include cloud computing in the national "Twelve-Five" strategic planning, the "Government cloud" is also VMware China's 2011-2015-year plan, an important strategic direction. VMware is actually very sympathetic to the Chinese government's perspective and is therefore actively involved. We hope to work with the Chinese government, as well as the various friends in the domestic cloud computing industry chain to promote the development of cloud computing at home. This is what we call the "Government Cloud" program.

In fact, VMware's "Government Cloud" program is not a traditional channel of cooperation, but to help China build a sound cloud industry chain. Therefore, we and partners will have a variety of modes of cooperation. For example, in some partnerships, VMware is just an expert at helping local cloud computing vendors refine their solutions, some of which involve a product dimension, and some work like a strategic investment. In fact, a lot of cooperation is actually not profitable.

Reporter: In different cloud form, the development of government cloud will be more ahead?

Song: With policy support, government clouds will quickly develop and have a "bellwether" effect. Government cloud movements will be the fastest, but that does not mean that the government cloud will have significant revenue. The government's push to cloud computing will drive the whole of China's understanding of the cloud and possibly explore business models and even create an ecological environment that is of great significance, so it is absolutely necessary for the Government to do this.

Reporter: Now every city in China is promoting this cloud computing center, do you think in China, need every city to build a cloud computing center?

Song: not completely, but it's a process that can't be avoided. Now the government's cloud computing projects more like the education of the entire market, this is the responsibility of the Government, to achieve a certain scale will naturally balance it. Sometimes, like a pendulum, sway left and right, and finally to the middle of the position. If the first step does not swing too far, in the middle of the time will not be enough, so first put the past, then it will naturally be put back, and finally stopped in the middle.

Song: Beijing "Cloud base" is Beijing "Xiangyun plan" in the first cloud computing industry incubation and demonstration base, and VMware has been with the VMware Cloud base of Beijing Tiandi Super Cloud Company began a good cooperation. VMware's virtualization software is pre-installed on cloud servers in the sky and cloud. In addition to the cloud base, in other cities, VMware some local governments and local cloud computing companies are also working on similar cooperation. If the entire Chinese cloud ecological environment is established, it is good for China, and for VMware is absolutely good, so in this incubation phase we are willing to invest.
