According to the Sammobile website, Samsung is developing its own virtual reality device called Gear VR, which will be released at this year's International Consumer electronics Fair in Berlin.

In fact, Gear VR is not an independent virtual reality product, more like the cardboard distributed at Google I/O this year, users need to connect the Galaxy phone to Gear VR via USB 3.0 interface. Gear VR does not configure sensors to track user head activity using sensors such as accelerometers and gyroscopes.

Gear VR has a transparent button on the right side that uses the smartphone's rear-facing camera to provide video of the surroundings to the user. Underneath the transparency button is a touchpad that users can use to manipulate the interface of the Galaxy smartphone. Because the Galaxy series is configured with a AMOLED display, the visual effects and immersion of the Gear VR may be better.

It is reported that Gear VR hardware developed independently by Samsung, software by Samsung and Oculus VR joint development. After the Gear VR announcement, Samsung will release the Gear VR Software Development Kit to developers and open the Gear VR application zone in the Samsung Apps App Store. The first Gear VR applications include theatre, 360 player and gallery.

Gear VR should be cheaper than other virtual reality devices in terms of manufacturing costs, but Samsung has always climbed the cold line, and Gear VR prices are unlikely to be particularly low.

In addition, at this year's International Consumer Electronics Fair in Berlin, Galaxy Note 4 is likely to be announced with Gear VR.
