Cloudburst Hardware and software components
Cloudburst is based on the IBM System x server, the latest release of Cloudburst 2.1 is based on a more powerful HS22V blade server, configured with 72GB main memory (formerly 48G memory), more than 50% higher than the previous version. IBM Cloudburst has three configurations, each of which is a 42U rack. The smallest configuration is 1 BladeCenter chassis and 4 blade servers, running 100 virtual machines, top up to 2 BladeCenter chassis and 28 blade servers, and running up to 960 virtual machines.
On the software side, the Cloudburst system integration software allows customers to press several buttons to complete the application or service configuration, but also to save the underlying server and storage resources by setting the application to "deep freeze" mode. In virtualization, VMware ESXi 3.5 Built-in management programs are stored directly in flash memory on each HS22 blade motherboard. For management software, the x3650 M2 Management Server and HS22 management blades are installed by IBM's Tivilo provising manager v7.1,monitoring V6.2.1 and system Director6.1.1 System management tools, including an active energy manager that can control the energy capping characteristics of IBM servers, to achieve optimal performance based on requirements.
