VIEWVC is a web-based CVS, SVN Warehouse browsing tool. It was first developed from cvshttp://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/12640.html ">web, Cvsweb was written in Perl, VIEWVC original author Greg Stein found it difficult to extend new functionality on this basis, and then it was implemented in Python and named Viewcvs. Later added support for the SVN code warehouse, to reflect this change Viewcvs renamed to VIEWVC. VIEWVC can be run as a stand-alone program (standalone.py) or as a CGI-enabled Web server, and can run in ASP mode in IIS and run in Apache in Mod_python mode. VIEWVC accesses the code warehouse through the local file system, so it must be installed on the same server running the CVS or SVN code warehouse. Running VIEWVC requires a lot of third-party software, depending on the enabling feature and running platform.

VIEWVC (formerly Viewcvs) is a web browsing interface for CVS and SVN version control systems, using VIEWVC to browse directories/files in the repository, as well as historical versions of each file, and to display and download files.
