In fact, VMware has also seen the huge potential of the private cloud market, and this April, VMware released its new version of the virtualization platform--vsphere 4, and later on it was updated and improved. Compared with the previous virtualization platform, the vsphere 4 function is more perfect, for the enterprise IT infrastructure in the processor, storage and network links, have proposed corresponding solutions.

In addition, Vsphere provides greater virtualization performance. The number of processors it supports, the number of virtual network interfaces, the virtual machine memory capacity, network throughput, and other indicators are greatly improved, from the previous version of 2 to 4 times times. Vsphere's capabilities in data protection, application migration, disaster recovery, etc. have also been greatly improved.

As a virtualization platform, the advantages of vsphere 4 are self-evident. However, as a user trying to build a private cloud architecture, consider whether their IT infrastructure meets the needs of the platform.

VMware vsphere 4 can only run on 64-bit CPUs. So you have to consider whether the current hardware is a 64-bit CPU. If your server hardware is older, you may need to replace it with a new one to run vsphere.

In addition, although the Vsphere 4 has been released for some time, many companies remain on the original platform. Any upgrade of a new product will not be able to avoid vulnerabilities, companies must be cautious about this, especially in the production environment, fortunately VMware has been updated on it.

If you are worried about using vsphere, you can upgrade to the development environment first, and test the server to see how it works, no problems, and then use the server in the production environment. This allows you to gain experience using vsphere without putting the production environment in disarray. Alternatively, you can download an evaluation license and set up a separate environment to test the new version. If you use it well and you are stable in the environment, you can start production deployment.

Today's virtualization applications are not limited to the initial stage of server virtualization. The ultimate goal of virtualization is to help the enterprise infrastructure resource pool to achieve aggregation and overall management, to achieve a reasonable allocation of resources, so as to improve operational efficiency and save operating costs.

With the full development of virtualization technology today, private cloud architecture is a good attempt. Public cloud computing services are a good vision for corporate cloud computing services, while private cloud is an important and realistic step on the road to success.
