The August 31 news, VMware CEO Paul Marize (http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13830.html ">paul Maritz") urged users to consider the future of desktop computers. Marize insists that desktop computers are not suitable for the current workforce. In his speech at the opening ceremony of the VMworld 2011 conference, he said the PC was no longer the only animal in the zoo. More and more devices will be held in the hands of users.
Marize predicts that less than 20% of computing customers will run Microsoft Windows within five years. The work of providing applications and data no longer belongs to any one device or to any operating system. So we have to think about things other than desktop computers.
Marize says users should evolve from virtualization to a full-featured cloud infrastructure. Currently, 50% of the global infrastructure is running on virtualization technology. Cloud computing is the logical next step.
Cloud infrastructure is necessary to meet the needs of a more dynamic workforce, Marize said. The cloud infrastructure enables administrators to provide applications and information to people rather than devices.
Marize says some agencies seem to be moving in that direction. There are currently more than 800,000 vsphere administrators, including 68,000 technical certified administrators.
Marize said 11545.html "> We have an excellent desktop environment." The problem is that people under the age of 35 don't sit behind a table. They didn't spend all their time on documents. They will deal with shorter and more informative messages sent to them. We are entering a post-file era. We need different solutions.
