VMware invests $30 million in data center automation

Beijing time January 23 Evening News, data Center Automation company Puppet Labs Wednesday announced that VMware has invested 30 million of dollars in the company, which makes puppet labs total financing of 46 million U.S. dollars.

Other investors in Puppet Labs include True Ventures, Cisco, Google VCs, Kleiner and radar. Puppet Labs declined to disclose the company's valuation in the round, but sources said the company's current valuation was much higher than the previous round of financing in 2011.

Puppet Labs provides system management and data Center automation software for enterprise and cloud computing services. The company's flagship product, Puppet, is an Open-source data center automation and configuration Management framework that provides system administrators with an easy-to-use platform for transparent, flexible system management.

The company also provides puppet commercial version of puppet Enterprise to help enterprise system administrators easily configure and manage virtualization and cloud infrastructure. The company's clients include Zynga, Twitter, NYSE, Disney, Citrix, Oracle/sun, and Stanford University.

VMware is currently the leading data center virtualization service provider, so VMware's investment in puppet Labs is reasonable. In addition to investing, two companies agreed to collaborate strategically to provide IT management solutions to help customers better leverage virtualization and cloud computing technologies in multi-vendor IT environments.
