According to the Wall Street Journal, the WTO has rejected China's appeal for a dispute over Sino-US audiovisual disputes, refusing to accept China's claim to enforce the restrictions on "public morals". Under the current law, China is allowed to import only 20 foreign films a year, and foreign companies selling audiovisual products in China are subject to the Chinese film Group. The WTO decision is final, and China will have a year to revise the laws, otherwise the US will have the right to impose trade sanctions to compensate for the losses it has suffered in the area of audiovisual trade. The report also mentions trade disputes between China and its Western trading partners this year over intellectual property, poultry trade, tyre tariffs, anti-dumping rules and export quotas on raw materials. According to the WTO report, China has become the biggest target country for trade protection measures.
