Zynga announced today that it had acquired Omgpop, the New York social game developer, that the deal was not announced. Omgpop is a popular draw guessing game draw something developers, in addition to the other 35 social games.
After becoming part of the company, Zynga said Omgpopo will focus on building new mobile IP and enhancing existing social gaming product portfolios. Omgpop CEO will be the managing director of Zynga New York.
In the 6 weeks since the launch of draw something, it has downloaded more than 35 million times. Other data on the game include: more than 1 billion paintings were created last week, and three of them were created every second on the day of the game, and yesterday, the number of paintings produced per second reached a peak of more than 3,000.
Omgpop's first name was iminlikewithyou, a social network for users to communicate and play games, and then launched the Social gaming website Omgpop.com in 2009.
Earlier, the media quoted people familiar with the news that Zynga's acquisition of Omgpop amounted to $200 million or higher.
