13. Exchange-routed iOS system backup and recovery

Transport protocol:

v FTP: File Transfer Protocol, Application layer protocol, for file transfer.

v TFTP: Lightweight file Transfer Protocol, Application layer protocol, for small file transfer.

v Xmodem: Asynchronous File transport Protocol, Application layer protocol, using dial-up modem transmission, low transmission efficiency.

Cisco Cisco switching routing devices

Use FTP Transfer Protocol for Backup and recovery of switched-routed IOS systems:

v PC set up a good ftp server, build ftp server gadget has server-u and so on.

v Configure the FTP server user name and password in the interchange routing device .

(config) # ip ftp username ren

(config) # IP FTP password 123

v back up the system to the FTP server.

# Copy Flash FTP

v Restore the system from the FTP server.

# Copy FTP Flash

Use the TFTP Transfer Protocol backs up and restores the switched-routed IOS system:

v PC set up a TFTP Server, set up the FTP server gadget has 3CDaemon and so on.

v back up the system to the TFTP server.

# Copy Flash TFTP

v Restore the system from the TFTP server.

# Copy TFTP flash

Tip Information:

2 Address or name of remote host[]? Specify the remote server address

2 Source filename[]? Specify the source image file name

2 Destination filename[]? the file name copied to the device

use the XMODEM transport protocol to recover a switched-routed IOS system:

v Console line connection switching routing

v PC -side Connection switching routing with SECURECRT tool

v turn on switching route power into ROM system

v The switch needs to initialize Flash.

Switch:flash_init

v Specify to transfer IOS through Xmodem transfer mode

Switch:copy Xmodem:flash: full name of image file

v The PC side uses the securecrt tool to send the image file to Flash .

v Restart Interchange Routing

Equipment through Xmodem Transport Recovery IOS:

v the PC side uses the securecrt tool to connect the switch via the Console Port

v Press Ctrl+b to enter bootrom mode when the switch is powered on

v Select "2" to enter IOS recovery mode.

v Use the SECURECRT tool to send the image file to Flash .
