15-Minute Efficiency rule

My 15 minute rule to producti.pdf

I am always procrastinating. I will drag a task to the last point. I also learned to use ultra-efficiency in the later stages to make up for the previous delays. Anyway, I can always finish it before deadline! But I know that my problem is: when I sit down and start working, I always do something irrelevant. I call it a light-mode delay. You may also think like this. It has the following symptoms: before you sit down and start working, you are always used to first Weibo or browsing other interesting websites; I always tell myself that there is 10 minutes to relax before the project starts. I always do things that are trivial and unimportant, such as checking my mailbox.

In the end, I had this formal behavior: sitting at the table, usually half an hour or an hour before I really started to work. Once I start, I will find that nothing can distract me and complete my work smoothly. I began to realize that either blogging or writingCodeI will follow this behavior pattern. Once I have invested 15 minutes, I have been able to concentrate on my work.

So the 15-minute rule came into being.

I decided to do some small experiments. The next time I started my work, I forced myself to do something as trivial as checking emails, instead of following the steps below:

1. Select a proper task (this will clearly clarify your goal)

2. Disable all interference items for 15 minutes. Do not let them disturb you during this time period.

3. Do things for 15 minutes without interference or interruption

4. After 15 minutes, if I can't hold on, I will give up or do other things.

The result is that after I work in a single thread for 15 minutes, I certainly don't want to stop. Even if I had no motivation at all, after being immersed in it for 15 minutes, I became happy to finish it. Just like reading the first few chapters of a book, you will gradually enter the country and want to read the subsequent chapters.

I have also tried other ways to get rid of delays and improve efficiency. They are not that useful to me. For me, I have the following questions:

1. They are too complex and require 100% Investment (this entry is really high ).

2. They generally only emphasize efficiency and task priority, not specific procedures.

3. They always assume that people are the ones who can sit down and start to concentrate on their work (which is hard for me ).

I am also the kind of people who love and respect time management. Those suggestions are really good, but they are not suitable for me. My daily routine is actually fixed in many projects. I can almost understand what I should do every hour every day. In this case, my problem is not to pick out what I want to do, but to do things efficiently and without delay.

The above method is similar to the tomato work method. I was a little resistant to it before, because I felt that I was not able to focus for so long (25 minutes), So I reduced the time period to 15 minutes.

Why does this method work?

I think the main reason is that it gives me a positive momentum. That is to say, when you do one thing for 15 minutes, it will be difficult to change to another path. Focus is at the core of the 15-minute rule. Distraction seems to be the nature of people, just as you are reading this article.ArticleYou may switch to another tab to view other items. So I can only force myself to focus on one piece of things within a certain period of time, and eliminate the distracting flame.

In short, This method enables me to focus on it without being disturbed by other things. And it won't put too much pressure on me. I only know that I am working for 15 minutes, rather than setting too many Progress requirements for myself.

How to use this method

1. Turn off all other interference before doing things, such as turning off irrelevant tabs or mobile phones.

2. Disabling interference is not enough. You have to concentrate on yourself.

3. Do not think about it. I know that thinking is also part of "doing", but your thoughts will be everywhere when you think. You can write a draft directly, instead of thinking too much about it.

4. If you think it is difficult for you to start, you can use brainstorming instead of "start-up ". But it must be in the form of writing an idea or drawing a mind map, rather than just the brain being active.

5. If you cannot stick to it in 15 minutes, give up. Take a rest and try again.
