1900 Series vswitch Quick Start Guide

If a device is missing or damaged, contact your Cisco Agent or distributor for support.
Note: you also need three, four, or five types of direct connections or crossover lines to connect to Ethernet devices.
Ii. Connecting devices and starting vswitches
NOTE: For the two device ports to be connected, a direct connection is required for each port marked with "X", and a cross line is required for both ports marked with "X.
1. Connect to workstations, servers, and Routers
1): connect a 10BaseT port on the vswitch to the 10BaseT port on the workstation, server, and vro with a direct connection of category 3, category 4, or Category 5.
2): connect a 100BaseT port on the vswitch with the 100BaseT port on the workstation, server, and vro using a five-type direct connection.
　
2. Connect to another vswitch or HUB)
1): connect a 10BaseT port on the vswitch to a 10BaseT port on another vswitch or hub with a Class 3, Class 4, or Class 5 crossover line.
2): connect one 100BaseT port on the vswitch with another vswitch or 100BaseT port on the hub using a five-type crossover line.
3) In the example of a vswitch with a 100 light interface, connect a 50/125 or 62.5/125 multimode light to a notebook, server, Hub, or connected vswitch or vro. In the figure, the switch has two light interfaces that can be stacked from the network cable supplier or CISCO using a MT-RJ connection line.
　
3. Connection Control Cable
1) Before connecting to the control terminal, PC or notebook, make sure that some settings of the control terminal match the corresponding settings of the switch control port. The default configuration of the switch control port is baud rate: 9600bps; Data bit: 8 bits; stop bit: 1 bits; no parity and traffic control.

3. Configure the vswitch IP address and login password
After configuring an IP address for a vswitch, you can use its Management port for browser-based management. In addition, a vswitch can use its IP address to exchange data with a local router or the Internet. Setting a password can effectively prevent unauthorized users from logging in. In addition, the Catalyst 1900 Switch Manager requires a password.
Note: If the vswitch is used as a secondary switch, you may not set an IP address or password for it. To change the vswitch, you must use a trunk switch with an IP address and password to control and manage the vswitch. See the relevant documentation in the installation and configuration guide.

If the vswitch does not have an IP address, the Current setting value is 0. 0. 0. 0. You can enter the recorded IP address after New setting. If the vswitch is connected to a network with a dynamic IP address DHCP/BOOTP, the server will automatically assign it an IP address.
4): If you want to configure the subnet mask and default gateway, select S and G on the IP address configuration page.
2. Configure the password
1) in the IP configuration menu, select X Exit) return to the main menu, as shown below:

2) select P and enter a 4-8-bit password. Password Change is not encrypted during user login verification.
3): press any key to return to the logon page.
During the design of the vswitch, too many manual configuration changes were not considered. After you have configured the IP address and password, the switch can work properly according to the default configuration. To change the vswitch configuration and monitor the network conditions, you can use the control command menu, or use WEB-based Catalyst 1900 Switch Manager anywhere. If the switch is running Cisco Catalyst 1900/2820 Enterprise Edition Software. You can change the configuration through command-line interface CLI.
The following describes how to access the Switch Manager homepage. 4. Access the Switch Manager homepage.
After configuring the IP address and password, you can access the home page of the vswitch Manager. The following is the platform and browser version supported by the software.

To display the manager's homepage, the browser needs to make the following configuration changes:

Note: If the vswitch is a secondary switch, enter the IP address of the primary switch. Refer to relevant documents for more information.

19) Click "OK" in "Internet Options"
Display the Switch Manager homepage.
After the browser is configured, follow the steps below to access the switch manager's home page:
1) enter the IP address in the address bar and press Enter.
2) enter the password configured above. After verification is passed, click "OK"
The Switch Manager homepage is displayed as follows:

You can use the switch manager to configure the monitoring switch anywhere in your Ethernet network.
