Cisco Emulator Description
In the process of learning Cisco, an excellent simulator is a must, I would like to talk about my general use of the simulator (GNS3), and then write blogs shown in the simulator (Gns3+eve-ng).
Just getting started, the first simulator you contacted was PT (Packet Tracer), and it didn't take long. The GNS3 is used for a long time. And Eve-ng (formerly: Unetlab), which has been in contact for some time
GNS3:
Website Link: https://www.gns3.com/
Better than PT: 1. Supported commands more, the phenomenon more like the real machine.
The disadvantage is: 1. The SW part is not supported without Gns3-iou; 2. Memory (compared to PT) because it is more realistic to simulate, so pulling a route (I am c7200,15.x) seems to occupy 512MB of memory. But this line of computer configuration must not be low. Personally think 8G is just getting started.
Do not download the words from the official website-slow. Here's a GNS3.1.5.3 version of Baidu Link: https://pan.baidu.com/s/1gf9OwYv. 1.5.3 I use a bit more handy (when I write this blogs, the latest is 2.1.0, note that GNS3 does not support 32bit computers). The matching Gns3-iou 1.5.3:https://pan.baidu.com/s/1espz4o6. Note that GNS3 and Gns3-iou must be the same version. Not one is 1.5.3, one is 2.1.0. Gns3-iou to work with VMware Workstation (recommended, charged) or VirtualBox (I didn't use it for free).
GNS3 Installation Tutorial: 1, Download GNS3 installation package: You can specify the installation path when installing. There is a point to note in the installation. It is best not to tick wireshark and solarwinds.
Because the Wireshark in GNS3 is installed online.
may be slow or not connected to the server. And I always fail to connect. You can install the package yourself (recommended). I have not studied what the other is. It's no use, is it? Then the default is OK.
2. Initialize the settings: Import iOS: Select Server, this is import iOS image (you want to get a good iOS image). The VM is imported Gns3-iou. Remember to tick the lower left corner of Don ' t show this again.
3. The default until after. Here is the interface for configuring this route. Pa-4t+ refers to 4 Serai interface (serial port), pa-4e refers to 4 Ethernet interface, can be added according to personal preferences. The initial one is certainly not enough.
4. The calculation is then idle-pc. This is CPU-intensive. In fact, there is no use can skip first (FINSH). Finally, you have to calculate your own after the talk.
5. Modify the name of the file and select Save location: It's best not to put it on the C drive.
6. Modify the default virtual terminal (comes with putty, which is modified to Xshell). Enter the preferences in edit.
7. Start:
Another thing is that when the device is turned on, it is possible that the CPU will be very high (up to 100% is common). You can then put the mouse on any device, right-click to select IDLE-PC
Generally speaking, it is recommended to select numbers with * numbers. But just recommend .... If you choose a digital CPU with *, you can try something else. My experience is to choose the last one.
Then the basic initialization is over.
Initialization of the Gns3-iou:
1. Software needed: VMware, Gns3-iou, IOURC (License), device IOU.
2. Import the downloaded Gns3-iou into VMware. Computer to open Inter vt-x. The network segment of the virtual machine is set to the same network segment as your own PC (NIC is host-only mode).
3. Go to the GNS3 preferences and select the path of the Lincense (do not change the path arbitrarily).
4. Turn on the GNS3 VM.
The virtual machine will then open automatically, waiting for a moment to appear:
If you do it first, it will succeed.
5. Let's import IOU.
Select the path and type of IOU, L3 is a three-tier device, L2 is a two-tier device and is named.
6. Go back to the main screen and drag two devices to try it out.
Gns3-iou is here for this.
Eve-ng:
Official link: www.eve-ng.net.
The benefit of this simulator is mainly to support multi-vendor. You can play Cisco devices, H3C, junipe ... in your lab at the same time. So the bull simulator naturally has its drawbacks, too.
Or take up a large amount of memory to do a bigger lab no 16G don't think about it. And this simulator Rs direction of less than ccie feel meaningless. GNS3 almost all can be replaced. So I still prefer to use GNS3. Eve-ng should also be used with VMware workstation.
Eve-ng Installation Tutorial:
Software needed: VMware, Eve-ng.ova, WINSCP, SECURECRT, IOU, browser.
1: Import the Eve-ng.ova file into VMware. and modify some configuration: memory, CPU, network adapter to change to host-only mode. Network segment to set why you own the same network segment.
2: The look after boot. Input Username:root, passwd:eve
Get started with some configuration: Modify ROOT_PASSWD
Confirm again:
Modify hostname:
This is followed by modifying the DNS domain name, obtaining the IP address, the NTP server
This step will restart the virtual machine, 3: Connect to Eve-ng using WINSCP:
3: Import the IOU and other into the Eve-ng:
4: Open Eve-ng (I use SERCURECRT remote connection here), go to/opt/unetlab/addons/iol directory: Execute command: Pydoc 3 ciscoioukeygen.py
5: Modify File permissions:
6: Then the basic configuration is gone. Open the browser and enter the IP address of the eve-ng. Login. Username:admin. Passwd:eve.
7: New topo, pull two route. In general, remote software is used to telnet manually. The router's opening time is somewhat slow. You can see the IP address and port of Telnet by placing your mouse on the logo of the route.

There are some small details not written. It would be nice to have a more specific try.
