3. XenServer 6.5-Create NIC binding (bond)

In XenServer, in order to provide network level redundancy or load balancing function, in order to prevent a single network card network cable or network card problems, resulting in networks are not available, so it is recommended that all network cards are bound (bond) and then used;

Testing Citrix recommendations in the physical machine, the following and all the configuration will be carried out in physics;

1, open Xencenter, connect the XenServer server, click on the right side of the network connection, the following will be listed to show this server network card and management port IP address;

2, click Create "Build network adapter binding"

When VSwitch is a network stack, you can bind two, three, or four NICs, and when the Linux Bridge is a network stack, only two NICs are bound;

The XenServer supports three types of binding modes: Active/Active, active/passive (active/backup), and LACP. Proactively/proactively provides load balancing and redundancy for VM-based communications. For other types of communication (storage and management), the active/active inability to load balance traffic. Therefore, LACP and multipathing are better choices for storage communication.

1) Active-active: If one of the NICs in the binding fails, the traffic is balanced between the bundled NICs, and the host server's network traffic is routed through the second NIC automatically.

2) Active-Passive: communication is delivered only through one of the bundled NICs. In this mode, the other NIC is active only if the active NIC fails (for example, if a network connection is lost).

3) LACP binds to the load Balancing feature based on source and destination IP and port: In this binding, the source IP address, the source port number, the destination IP address, and the destination port number are used to distribute traffic between the NICs. Use this option to balance traffic from VMs in an environment where the number of NICs exceeds VIF.

4) LACP binds to the load balancing feature based on the source MAC address to configure LACP binding: Select the NIC to use for outgoing traffic based on the MAC address of the VM from which the communication originated. Use this option to balance communication in an environment that has multiple VMS on the same host. This option is not applicable if the number of virtual interfaces (VIF) is less than the NIC: Because communication cannot be split between NICs, optimal load balancing cannot be achieved.

3, in the production environment or to achieve 3 network separation, management network, storage network, Business network. In this test, we select "Active-active" mode, tick two network cards, Select "Active-active", then tick "Automatically add this network to the new virtual machine", click "Create", then click "Still create bindings" in the alert window that appears.
