3.3 Installing in Server Core
3.3.1 Installing the. NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
SQL Server Setup requires the. NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 support. Earlier SQL Server 2008 explicitly indicated that it could not be installed in Windows Server Core because Windows Server 2008 at that time did not support the installation of the. NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 in Server Core.
In Windows Server R2, the. NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 can be installed through DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) tools. You can view the Feature pack and install it by following the commands below. Note that the value of the FeatureName parameter is case-sensitive.
Dism/online/get-features | find/i "NetFx" Dism/online/enable-feature/featurename:netfx2-servercore Dism/online/enable-feature/featurename:netfx3-servercore |

The ". NET Framework 3.5" component files are also included in Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server R2 system disks or system images, but when the system is installed for the server, these component files are not copied to the newly installed system. You also need to insert a DVD or copy the Sources\sxs from the optical drive to a local or network installation.
3.3.2 Installing the. Net Framework 4.0
SQL Server 2014 applications also require. NET Framework 4.0 support.
Operating systems that have been released prior to the release of the. NET Framework 4.0 must have the latest patches installed, or "not supported on Server Core roles" during the installation process. Supported operating systems are Windows Server SP2 (as well as Windows Vista SP2), Windows Server R2 SP1 (and Windows 7 SP1).
If you are installing on a Windows R2 Server Core, you will need to install the Windows Server R2 SP1 before you install the. NET Framework 4 and follow the instructions below.
Open wow64:start/w OCSetup Servercore-wow64
Open the. NET 2.0 layer: start/w ocsetup Netfx2-servercore
Open the WoW64. NET 2.0 layer: start/w ocsetup netfx2-servercore-wow64
On the Microsoft website, download the Microsoft. NET Framework 4 (Standalone installer) for Server Core, save it to your computer, and then install it. Download link http://www.microsoft.com/zh-cn/download/details.aspx?id=22833

In Windows Server R2, the. NET Framework 4.0 is already installed by default.
3.3.2 Installing SQL Server 2014
SQL Server 2014 does not support installation using the Installation Wizard on the Server Core, and SQL Server Setup supports full silent mode (by using the/q parameter) or simple silent mode (by using the/qs parameter).
The following is an example of an installation process:

Features supported by the Server Core include: Database engine services, SQL Server replication, full-text and semantic extraction search, Analysis Services, client tool connectivity, Integration Services, and SQL Client connection SDK. If you select a different feature, you will get the "features you have selected that are not supported by the Windows Server kernel" prompt.
Logs from the installation process are logged to the Summary.txt file and can be viewed in this log for further details.
