4G is not fixed yet, and 5G is more false

When China's 3G construction is in full swing, some people begin to think about the next step of 3G to discuss the direction of 4G or even 5g. This is also a good topic, but it is obviously too early to be put on the agenda. The 4G standard is still under discussion, and the topic of 5g is even more false.

Not long ago, at the IEEE Communications Association's Boston branch, analysts analyzed and studied 3G and 4G, and also believed that 5G may be unnecessary or even impossible. Some representative points are:

3G has been established to consolidate its position. Even in countries like the United States, its deployment is far from complete, but the increasing demand for mobile data services is the main engine driving its development.

4G integrates voice and data into the IP framework, which essentially extends the current wired thinking to wireless and implements full IP. However, at present, the 4G standard is only on paper, including LTE, mobile WiMAX and other technologies will become the mainstream direction of the 4G standard in the future.

According to the non-strict definition, 5g throughput may reach a higher 1 Gbps (note that we are talking about wireless WAN, not Wi-Fi ). To meet this need, 5G technologies such as LTE Advanced and 802.16m-based mobile WiMAX are also being developed. However, the economics of 5g, not any technical risks, may block this technology. After all, this means that more base stations need a huge new and expensive frequency band, more mobile phones, construction fees, and support costs.

In fact, in the current economic environment, there will be no 4G network construction projects. Operators are either busy with layoffs or postponing the earlier plan. AT&T and T-Mobile both recently announced that, before vigorously promoting 4G technology, the upgrade of 3G high-speed access wireless networks will still be the focus of their work. It is estimated that LTE technology will not be commercially available until the next year.

In China, 3G is under construction in various regions. Operators in some regions even work overtime to build base stations during the Spring Festival. At the same time, 3G wireless broadband testing is underway. Three major operators gradually release, PHS also began to retreat for TD-SCDMA ...... For domestic and foreign communication and network equipment manufacturers, China's 3G construction is a huge opportunity. There are more real jobs and less imaginary guesses.
