Lack of contrast is a very common problem and is often easy to remedy. When you hear a client growling at you, "not perfect!" , what they really want to say is that they want to see more contrasting design elements. Today, this good article summed up 5 simple and practical skills, to collect!
Does your design project always feel like it's not that great, and it's probably due to a lack of contrast. The main function of contrast is to improve the differentiation between elements, so that each design looks more independent, prominent and special.
There are many ways to create design contrast, including using a variety of different types of elements, from printing to color adjustment, and so on. Creating contrast is very important, it can make a design complete from ordinary to stunning metamorphosis. If you don't know what to do, the following five tips may help you
1. Make it bigger (or smaller)
Too many elements of equal weight will look the same. The easiest way to do this is to make an element significantly larger or smaller.
This different project will turn into the immediate focus, and the user will be attracted to the canvas area because it is different.
When making an element, a picture or text block is larger or smaller than its physical size and, more importantly, its visual weight. The easiest way to understand this is by typesetting. Look at the picture above. These two words are the same "size", but the feeling is very different. The reason for this contrast is the thick letters, the thin letters at the bottom of the page.
You can extend this same concept elsewhere, and you will find that almost any other design element is the same.
Look at the small flyer on the website above. Text-based navigation at the top of the page and buttons at the bottom of the screen with special attention. Why does the text attract your eyes faster? Why all types are the same size, but the inner colorful photo frame makes it look bigger and more eye-catching.
2. Add Texture
Although now flat and mini style as the mainstream of design trends, textures are no longer as common as before. But you can still see it in many places, and sometimes you don't even think about why it exists.
Changing from a planar element to anything with a texture, pattern or three-dimensional style will help create focus. Adding a texture background may be the most straightforward solution, or, under the same conditions, adding textures is faster and better than other scenarios.
Consider textures with the same texture as text elements, which is popular in many retro typography styles. The main types of texture texture include roughness and smoothness. They can work with each other to improve the contrast of the design to create visual focus.
