When we do the site, it can be published in two ways: one is done by the local computer, and the other is published online, you can choose which method to use according to your own conditions. This section focuses on the process of installing IIS on your local computer and using IIS to publish your Web site.

1. Install IIS

Because IIS is a specialized Intemet Information Server system, it contains more content that not only provides Web services, but also provides services such as file transfer services, news and Mail, and is the preferred server system for creating powerful, content-rich sites. IIS is the basic installation component of the system, and if you choose to install IIS when you install the system, you no longer need to install it separately, but if you do not choose to install it, you can install it as you would any other Windows component.

The steps to install Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 under Windows 2003 are as follows:

(1) On the Windows 2003 desktop, click the "Start" one "Control Panel" command, which opens the Control Panel window, as shown in 1.

(2) Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.

(3) Clicking the Add/Remove Windows Components button pops up the Windows Components Wizard dialog box, which displays the components available for installation in the Windows Components Wizard dialog box.

(4) Select the Application Server check box and click the Details button, and in the dialog box that pops up, select the Intemet Information Services (IIS) check box, and then click the OK button.

(5) Return to the Windows Components Wizard dialog box and click the Next button to install. When you are prompted to insert disk during installation, insert the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition CD to continue the installation.

(6) Finally, when the Installation Wizard interface finishes, click the Finish button to complete the installation of the IIS components. When we install IIS, by default the operating system starts the IIS Information service on its own, but we can also stop or pause the IIS information service. After the NS information service is stopped or paused, we can also start the IIS Information service.

2. Uploading a website

If you want to upload a good web site to a Web server in IIS, do the following:

(1) Select "Site" a "Manage Site" command, in the Pop-up dialog box in the list box to select the name of the site to upload, click the "Edit" button, pop up the "Site definition" dialog box.

(2) Select the Remote Information option in the Category list box, select the Local/network option in the Access drop-down list box, and the relevant settings will appear under the Access drop-down list box.

(3) In the Remote folder text box, specify that the Web site publishes a directory of "C:\lnetpub\wwwroot\" (the Web server default directory in local IIS), 2, and then click the OK button to return to the previous interface and click the Finish button.

3. Visit the website

After the site is uploaded to the specified server, how do I access it? Because our site is uploaded to the local Web server, there are two ways to access it. One is: Enter "http://local server IP address/index.html" in the browser address bar to access this site, which can be accessed on different computers in the same LAN, as shown in 4. The other is: enter "http://127.0.0.1/index.html" in the browser address bar is also accessible, this access method can only be accessed on the local computer, 4 is shown.

When we successfully publish the site, we also need to do regular maintenance of the site to ensure the normal operation of the site and attract more visitors. If you are interested in the maintenance of the site, you can check the relevant information, where the Web page Learning Network will not repeat.
