1, confirm that you are using a new adapter

When using the 802.11n wireless network card, if you see the maximum data transfer rate of 54Mbps or lower, the first to see whether the use of the wireless N adapter or the old Wireless G network card.

Old adapters can connect new n devices, but network performance and speed can be drastically reduced. So, to update the wireless device.

2. Use 40Mhz band only in case of strong signal

As mentioned above, in the use of 802.11n wireless network card, in order to allow Wireless N networks faster than 130Mbps, the frequency must be converted to 40Mhz. However, if all users have bad network signals, you may reconsider whether to enable channel binding. Because it does reduce the user's signal.

3, verify that the hardware is produced from the same manufacturer

WiFi Alliance to authenticate wireless networking products is to ensure that manufacturers are synchronizing the development of equipment.

However, some features are proprietary to individual manufacturers, must be used to support the use of the line. In addition, Wireless N devices may involve more interoperability issues.

The official standards need to be perfected is one reason, the supplier is also the trial product. You should use networking equipment with the same manufacturer as the 802.11n wireless network card to avoid problems that may arise.

If you don't have a favorite brand, try a special wireless device that you once owned. For example, if you want to use a wireless media extender to send photos, videos and music from your computer to your TV, you may want to select between different brands of equipment. Therefore, the balance can be found to suit their own products. Select a brand, you should also search the Internet for relevant comments, and finally make a choice.

4. Use only WPA2 encryption

The Wireless N standard does not support WEP, so the connection speed to use this type of encryption is limited to 54Mbps, even with the use of n standard devices.

In addition, the first WPA version does not even provide maximum wireless performance on n Networks. Therefore, you should use WPA2 personal or enterprise encryption technology.

If your adapter is an old product that can only support WEP encryption, check the vendor's Web page for driver updates to make sure Windows is up to date. If this is not helpful, you can switch to a new wireless network card.

In the browser, enter the IP address, login routing Configuration tool, change the encryption settings. The default IP and password should be listed in the document. Locate the wireless settings and change the encryption type.

5, change the default bandwidth, get efficient speed

If you install a 802.11n wireless network card and complete the above changes, the speed is not more than 130Mbps, you may want to change the default bandwidth. To reduce network interference with old WiFi devices, Wireless N Routing and Access points use 20MHz bands.

Some of the performance growth in Wireless N is due to the conversion to the 40MHz band, a technique known as channel binding technology (Channel bonding). Therefore, to achieve maximum speed, you need to change this default setting first.

Open the browser, enter the routing IP address to the Web Interface Configuration tool, enable channel binding. Locate the wireless settings and select the 40MHz band. Finally remember to save the changes.

6, disable the wireless G client to improve the performance of N-Network

The Wireless N network is backward compatible with the wireless G network and even the B-standard network. However, when the old adapter is connected to the N network, the traffic in the network is managed separately. Such compatibility has a negative impact on speed and performance. Therefore, if your speed transmission is not up to your needs, make sure that the network is only available to Wireless N clients. Log on to the Web interface's configuration tool and change the wireless settings to do this.

If you want to support wireless b/g customers, consider using a previous wireless G route or access point. Wireless g routing or access points can be connected to the back end of the new route. If you use channel bindings on n routes, you must make sure that they are all placed in a channel that does not overlap: 1,6 or 11, or 1, or 11. Then verify that only the N standard connections are used on the new route.

7, check the network interference

As with other wireless G networks, you should be concerned about common network disturbances, such as whether the channel used by adjacent access points interferes with the network, and whether other radio and electronic devices interfere with the network.

However, there is another problem with the Wireless N network. Remember, if you switch the default channel band from 20 to 40MHz, the frequency range of the signal is doubled.

If you use channel binding, you cannot use two of the three typical channels that do not overlap. So you have to make sure that you only use Channel 1 or 11 at all access points. Check the signal to see if there are other networks nearby, and then select the channel as appropriate.
