Discussion on learning and life -- a bit of views after reading everyone's work plan
Recently, I read the annual work plan sent by you. After careful consideration, I still feel that there are three serious problems:
First, I do not have enough understanding about the subject, and some do not understand it at all. I have been working for more than a year and have not yet entered the role.
Second, the amount of work that has been done is very low, and the doctor (some from the master's degree in this room) has done something that can be published for a few years.
Third, the study tends to end with the lowest workload in the plan. That is, the guerrilla warfare method. Combat with minimal manpower consumption.
This is from the paper. What we can see from the lab is that there are so many people who often don't see the lab. It seems that this is a good place to come. The less I enter the role, the less I study the literature. The less I do, the less I do. Think about it. If you don't learn it, how can you become an expert? If you don't do it, how can this happen? Without studying documents closely related to your own subject, or putting lab work in the top priority, you cannot count as a real doctoral student.
Writing a special study report is actually a good way to enter roles in a field. One article is not enough. You can write several articles consecutively until you can understand the relevant aspects of the research. It would be better to add your own opinions while writing a book report. A well-written post can be sent out. This will be of great benefit to strengthening business capabilities, improving the writing level, deepening the feelings of your own research work, and cultivating your business. In the past few years, we have talked a lot about the conference, but we have made little effort. Some people say that there is no time. I don't think it is time-consuming. For doctoral students, it is normal to work for 12 hours every day. It is normal to work for six and a half days every week. It is abnormal to work for less than six and a half days. I am here based on the concept of the PhD four-year academic system in the United States. When we have to study English for half a year for three years, the above investment is only a minimum limit.
We should pursue achievements in our life. I remember a poem: "Chao is Tian shilang, and mudeng tiantang. There will be no match, and men should be self-reliant ". Although some feudal consciousness described in this poem also tells the true meaning of life. What I want to add is that in the age of full equality between men and women, the daughter should also be self-reliant. On the way to science, there is a close relationship between achievements in the doctoral stage and achievements in the future. I have observed that most of our generation's achievements have laid a good foundation for doctoral studies. My understanding includes three aspects: extensive knowledge and desire for constant knowledge; and achievements as the foundation for future development; third, the spirit of continuous enterprising struggle and the outlook on life that takes work as the first requirement. Imagine: When will it be more time for doctoral students to develop their own achievements?
Some graduate students say how hard it is for graduate students in our lab, how easy it is for graduate students in some places, and the grievance and regret of the wrong course are beyond words. I don't know whether it is "easy" to envy "hard" or "easy" to envy people like our "hard" graduate students. However, in my opinion, I am engaged in cutting-edge international research work in national laboratories, and all the work to be done has the corresponding guarantee conditions. I can show my talents to comfort my life, it should be envied by the whole school and the whole country, rather than the opposite. People who are excited about "easy" are not sure why they are at least a graduate student or why they are motivated to be a graduate student. They only read a diploma and do not expect them to become talented. This kind of ideological trend should be corrected with great efforts.
Almost all of us here want to go abroad for post-doctoral studies after graduation. I am in favor of it and would like to do my best to support it. I hope that our lab staff will become well-known internationally. In the future, there may be two main channels for doctoral students who graduated from our office to go abroad for post-doctoral studies. One is recommended by me, and the other is for doctoral students themselves, and the latter is the master. The latter means to participate in international competition. If my doctoral thesis is well done, it will be highly competitive. I would like to recommend it, and the employer would like to accept it. If my doctoral thesis is not well done, I don't want to recommend it, and it is difficult to recommend it. In fact, each person's path is under his own feet, and his destiny is in his own hands. Each person is responsible for success or failure.
