A list of Photoshop tips on configuring

1. In "Edit > Preferences > File processing [ctrl+k, ctrl+2]", you can set the number of files that appear recently opened in the "File > recently opened" submenu. Photoshop keeps track of the last 30 files secretly, but it ignores the number you specify: it only shows a few of the items you specify. In fact, you can increase the number of recent files shown inside so that you can easily view them quickly.

2. Photoshop requires a staging disk, at least three to five times times the size of the maximum image you plan to handle-no matter how big your memory is.

For example, if you are going to handle a 5MB sized image, you need at least 15MB to 25MB of available hard disk space and memory size.

3, if you do not assign enough staging disk space, Photoshop performance will be affected. The Niekun occupied by Photoshop is limited by available staging disk space. So if you have 1GB of RAM and instruct Photoshop to use 75% of them, but only 200MB can be used as a staging disk at design time, then in most cases Photoshop will use 200MB.

Note: To get the best performance of Photoshop, set the maximum number of values that your physical memory occupies between 50%--75%. [Ctrl+k, Ctrl+8] (Edit > Preferences > Memory and Image Cache).

You should not put Photoshop's staging disk [Ctrl+k, ctrl+7] (Edit > Preferences > Plug-ins and Scratch Disks) on the same partition as your operating system, because doing so will allow Photoshop to compete with your operating system for available resources, This can lead to a decline in overall performance.

4. Hold down the CTRL and ALT keys when you turn on Photoshop so you can change the staging disk before Photoshop loads.

5. To restore all preferences to their default values, press Ctrl+alt+shift immediately after you turn on Photoshop or ImageReady. A dialog box appears asking if you are sure you want to reset.

6. Usually, when you select a history and then make a change to the image, all the records under the activity record are deleted or, more accurately, replaced by the current record. However, if you enable the "Allow non-linear history" option in the history floating panel, you can select a record to make changes to the image, and the changes will be appended to the bottom of the history floating panel instead of replacing the records under all active records. You can even delete a record without losing any of the records below it.

Note: The horizontal line color between historical records indicates their linear relationship. A white split represents a linear history, while black represents a Non-linear history.

A Non-linear history is not only very memory intensive, it is also very difficult to understand.

7. You can use the image preview option [Ctrl+k, ctrl+2] in Edit > Preferences > File Processing to save your customized icons and preview the images in Photoshop documents:

Always Save: Saves the custom icon or Image Preview (in the Image Properties dialog box in the Photoshop image page card) to your image.

Note: Enabling image previews typically increases the file size by approximately 2KB.

"Store-time Query": Allows you to trigger the "thumbnail" option in the "Save as" dialog box.

Note: This option is not really going to be queried at save time; it is simply making the thumbnail option available when you save the image.

"Never Save": Disables image previews and custom icons. This option disables the thumbnail option in the Save As dialog box.

Tip: You can trigger an image preview by using the "Generate Thumbnails" option in the Image tab of the image's Properties dialog box in Photoshop.

About customization

8, there is a way to remove the plug-ins you do not need (. 8be), filters (. 8bf), file format (. 8bi), and so on, that is, their file name (or the folder containing them) before using a tilde (~). Photoshop automatically ignores any files or folders that start with "~".

For example: To disable the Watermark plug-in, simply change the name of the folder to "~digimarc".

9. You can customize the "File > Jump to" and "File > Preview in selected Browsers" menu by creating shortcut keys for your favorite apps in the "Helpers" folder.

To add your favorite image application to Photoshop's File > Jump submenu, simply create a shortcut under the Jump to Graphics Editor directory.

To create your own HTML editor in the ImageReady file > Jump submenu, you can create a shortcut to the application you want in the "Jump to HTML Editor" directory.

To add your favorite browser to your "file > Preview in selected Browsers" submenu, create a shortcut in the "Preview in" directory.

Note: To display the application you have set up in the relevant menu, you need to reboot the Photoshop/imageready.

Suggestions for previewing in selected browsers: To select a browser in the File > Preview submenu (or Preview in selected Browser button), you can set this browser as the default [Ctrl+alt+p]. This browser will soon be set to take effect and will be renewed the next time you start ImageReady.

Note: Although you can add other image applications in the File > Jump submenu, you cannot change their default image applications. ImageReady's default "jump to" image application is Photoshop, and Photoshop's default "jump to" image application is imageready.

10. For Windows (especially 95/nt) to use customized display matching curves, you only need to do the following:

(1) Remove "Adobe Gamma Loader" from "Start" in the Start menu.

(2) Determine the path/name of the ICM curve (basically in c:winntsystem32color).

(3) Run Regedit and find the following items:

Hkey_local_machine>software>adobe>color>monitor>monitor0

(4) Create a new item called "Monitor profile"

(5) Enter the path/name in step 2 in the item of this display curve.

Note: After setting this curve, because Adobe Gamma has reconfigured Adobe Gamma Loader, do not run it again.

Some other miscellaneous

11, to free your memory, you can choose "Edit > Clean > History", but this will clear all the history of open documents.

Note: If you only need to clean up the history of the active document, press the ALT key and select Purge history from the history floating panel menu. This allows you to erase all history records without changing the image.

Warning! The above command is irrevocable!

12, to calculate the size of the image file, you can use the following equation:

File size = Resolution squared x Width x high x color deep/8192 (bit/kb)

If a 24-bit image, such as a screen resolution of 72dpi, is used:

File size = width x High x3/1024

Tip: Use 1024 removal (KB/MB) to determine the size of the file in megabytes.

13. To ensure that the Histogram Level dialog box is accurate, turn off the use cache statistics check box in Edit > Preferences > Memory and Image cache [Ctrl+k, ctrl+8].

14, to create network security color, you must ensure that the color of R, the G and B elements are multiples of 33 or 51 of the hexadecimal number, and any of the following values are acceptable: 00 (0), 33 (51), 66 (102), 99 (153), CC (204), FF (255).

15, because the compression algorithm is for JPEG and png pixels of 8 square is available, so if the image file can be cut by 8, its size can be reduced.
