By modifying the international standard DHCP and pppoe Ethernet broadband access protocols on the server end, Henan Netcom develops and enforces the use of proprietary ADSL Broadband Access client software. Although some technologies are used, it can still share the internet, however, the hegemony of China Netcom (Group) Co., Ltd. in Henan province infringes on my basic rights as a user.
In the name of providing better services, Henan Netcom developed this software and forced users to use it. Its purpose is only to restrict the basic rights of users to buy switches or routers on their own for "one-line multi-machine.
This is the basic right, because the operating mechanism of the switched or route-based Ethernet determines that, while the ISP limits the egress bandwidth, the switch or router is used for "one-line multi-host ", it does not cause any additional load beyond the bandwidth specified by the ISP. The bandwidth doubling effect is limited to the local network consisting of the user's "one-line multi-host, this is only because the user fully uses the bandwidth given by the ISP.
This is completely incomparable with the traditional 56 kbps dial-up Internet access that directly occupies telephone lines and can only be charged by traffic.
If the user must use the China Netcom ADSL Broadband Access for "one-line multi-host", only after a bandwidth usage fee has been paid, I will pay several hundred more yuan to purchase a Netcom dedicated router developed by a manufacturer that is in partnership with Henan Netcom. Because a router or switch that complies with international standards cannot work in an environment where the Henan Netcom client is installed. This not only damages the rights and interests of users, but also creates a malformed industrial chain for Henan Netcom to make huge profits.
Even worse, doing so leads to another serious consequence.
That is to say, broadband access to other operating systems, such as Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris (in the eyes of Henan Netcom, these are all "non-mainstream operating systems") is almost completely prohibited, because Henan Netcom only provides client software on Microsoft Windows operating system.
It is almost done because Henan Netcom also provides a Linux client, but it is inconvenient to use than the client on Windows, and there are other operating systems that cannot access the Internet.
This is an extremely short-sighted behavior. Open Source Software (the operating systems listed above are all open source software except Windows) is changing the world's software industry landscape, it has cracked down on the monopoly of commercial software in developed countries and provided an important opportunity and powerful help for developing the national software industry in developing countries like China, it also plays an important role in establishing and perfecting the information security system in China's national defense, education, finance, and other key fields. All these implementations depend on the popularity of open-source software, which focuses on open-source operating systems, among Chinese users.
All open-source operating systems only support international standard DHCP and pppoe broadband access methods, and their own software has been included, but as I have said before, henan Netcom is not just as simple as providing only one non-standard broadband access client. It also modifies the standard access protocol on the server side, turning it into a private protocol unique to Henan Netcom, even more, the standard Broadband Access software on open-source operating systems has become a decoration. For these real network operating systems, the inability to access the Internet will lead to the loss of more than half of their functions and all the fun of using them.
Moreover, due to the influence of Henan Netcom, this situation is still spreading. It is understood that Jilin and Heilongjiang Netcom have also adopted similar technologies, and even some local companies of China Telecom, including Henan branch, have also adopted technologies similar to Henan Netcom in the province.
I think, if the chairman of Bill Gates of Microsoft, who is struggling with open-source operating systems on the international market, knows that he does not have to spend a penny, someone is consolidating and expanding the Chinese market for him, i'm afraid I have to smile.
In order to protect myself and all users of Henan Netcom who have been harmed by their own rights and interests and have been attacked by their learning enthusiasm in similar cases, and even in other provinces, they will not continue to be infringed or attacked, I hereby solemnly condemn and protest to Henan Netcom!
It is hoped that Henan Netcom will have a trace of conscience as a State-owned ISP, so that it can stop such behavior with the spirit of an enterprise and provide users with truly high-quality services.
