A simple solution to the grub error 17 Problem

After starting with Ubuntu live CD, open the terminal command line

$ Sudo grub
$ Find/boot/GRUB/stage1

$ Root (hdx, X)

$ Setup (hdx)
# If the value returned by the find command is (hd0, num)
