A small function for converting time and date formats

SQL> select to_char (sysdate, 'ssss'), sysdate from dual;
To_ch sysdate
------------------------
62239 17:17:19
Sssss: displays the number of seconds that have elapsed since midnight. It is easy to use to calculate the number of seconds between the two time ranges, as shown below:
SQL> set serveroutput on
1 declare
2 T1 number;
3 T2 number;
4 T3 number;
5 begin
6 select to_char (sysdate, 'ssss') into T1 from dual;
7 dbms_lock.sleep (10 );
8 select to_char (sysdate, 'ssss') into T2 from dual;
