A small, green PDF browser software

Source: Internet

I have a shared software, which was previously released using Word documents as instructions. On the one hand, word (or other compatible) software must be installed on the user's operating system. On the other hand, this help is easily changed by users, so it is always not very professional. In fact, it should be more formal to make the help document into a CHM document, but I am not happy to take the time to manually convert the original Word documents into HTML, and some tools for automatic conversion are not very effective. So we finally converted it into a PDF document. However, it is well known that PDF documents must be read using Acrobat Reader. Although it looks more professional, you must know that the penetration rate of Acrobat Reader is lower than that of word. If you cannot view help smoothly after installation, the user experience of this software is really bad. However, my software, as a shared software released from the Internet, is unlikely to bring an Acrobat Reader.

Therefore, I first thought of so many open-source ghost browsers in Linux. after a while of investigation, I found that xpdf is an ancestor, but in Windows, it cannot provide a graphical interface. Kpdf is developed based on the KDE environment and does not directly provide executable files in windows. It is not impossible to use cygwin for transplantation, but it may take a long time. Evince is based on gnome and does not have any executable files in windows. It also needs to be transplanted with cygwin .... How can I modify a graphic interface based on xpdf? But when I saw Adobe's PDF Format of over 1000 pages, I was dizzy again...

Fortunately, I finally found this software: foxitreader

It only has a single EXE file and does not need to be installed. The zip package is only 1.3 MB, even after decompression, it is only 2.8 mb. The most important thing is that it is fully compatible with the current Acrobat Reader, the display effect is as good as the display speed is fast enough, and almost the same functions are provided, even the interface is similar. It's still free!

So it is, I put it directly into the installation package of my software, and use its built-in functions for file format association during installation. Once the software is installed, the user can check the help immediately. Is it great!

Finally, this software was developed by a Chinese company! They also provide sdks. You can directly embed the PDF browsing function into your own software, and even develop versions on Linux and wince. You can customize the development for other needs, (How is it like advertising ?.. But they did a great job !), Let's support them:
