Author: User

V$datafile is information about data files obtained from Oracle's control files
V$datafile_header is from the head of the data file
Under normal operation, the checkpoint SCN values for both are consistent, but when the datafile is damaged you can use V$datafile_header to determine the starting SCN for the application redo, and v$datafile to determine the end SCN value of the application redo
Sql> Select a.name,a.checkpoint_change# "START_SCN",
> b.checkpoint_change# "LAST_SCN"
> From V$datafile_header A, v$datafile b
> where a.file#=b.file#;
