Add a Web virtual host (figure) _win server to the WIN2003 server system

With multiple Web sites configured on the same physical server, many users choose to add multiple IP addresses to the server and then point each Web site to a different IP address. This approach is feasible, but as the IP address (mainly refers to the IP address in the Internet) more and more scarce resources, the drawbacks of this approach is more obvious. In fact, in IIS 5.0 and IIS6.0, users can simply add HTTP host headers to each Web site, creating multiple Web sites using an IP address and port number. This approach is often called "virtual host". The steps to build a virtual host in IIS 6.0 are described below:

Step 1th, in the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager window, right-click the Web site directory, and select new → Web site. Open the Web Site Creation Wizard dialog box, and in the Welcome dialog box, click the Next button.

Step 2nd, open the Web Site Description dialog box, enter a text message describing the content of the site in the description edit box, and click the Next button.

Step 3rd, in the open IP Address and Port Settings dialog box, click the Drop-down triangle button to the right of the site IP address edit box, and in the Drop-down menu, select an IP address that is not used by another Web site. "Site TCP port" keeps the default value of 80, enter the domain name for the site (such as Sc.jb51.net) in the home header for this site edit box, and click the Next button, as shown in Figure 2008111812.

Tip: If you do not select an IP address that is not used, and the Web site to which the IP address you are using has not been deleted, the Web site that you created later will be stopped altogether because of a port conflict.

Step 4th, open the Site Home Directory dialog box, click the Browse button to select the home directory where the site is located, and click OK → Next button.

In the 5th step, in the open Web Site access Permission dialog, leave the default permission settings and click the Next button. Open the complete Web Site Creation Wizard dialog box, and click the Finish button.

The 6th step, repeat the above steps to create a number of virtual hosts containing the host head, so as to achieve the virtual host system. When a user uses a domain name to access a Web site, although the Web sites use the same IP address and port number, they can accurately open the site that corresponds to the site's domain name.

Tip: To enable network users to access a specific Web site using an HTTP host header (that is, a domain name), you must create a record of host a For each site in the DNS server.
