The Recovery Console (Recovery console) is a command-line-based repair platform dedicated to Windows 2000/xp/server 2003, which is equivalent to the "Repair computer"-"System recovery Options" provided by Windows Vista Installer-" Command prompt, which is used to manually repair the system on the command line when Windows encounters a failure to start. The Recovery Console can be started not only through the Windows 2000/xp/server 2003 installation CD, but also through the winnt32/cmdcons command to the hard drive, with existing Windows 2000/xp/server 2003 Reboot.

As we all know, Windows Vista and the above version of the system (Windows Server 2008, Windows 7) are not available for Recovery Console. However, in the Windows Vista Group Policy Editor, expand Computer Configuration-Windows Settings-security settings-Local Policies-security options, set two options for the Recovery Console. Recovery Console: Allow floppy copy and access to all drives and folders, Recovery Console: Allow automatic system management level logins still exist. The author has never understood that since Windows Vista does not provide a recovery Console, what is the point of Group Policy remaining with these two options?

Recently, I stumbled upon a Windows XP computer that once installed the Recovery Console on the hard drive through winnt32/cmdcons, and then the computer installed Windows XP for Windows Vista without uninstalling the Recovery Console. Windows Vista's BOOTMGR boot menu retains the previous Windows XP NTLDR boot menu option, the Recovery Console is still present, and is automatically composed of multiple launches with upgraded Windows Vista, and can function correctly. It seems that the Recovery Console is not entirely impossible to coexist with Windows Vista. Group Policy also retains those two options, perhaps for this particular case.

Of course, this is only the author's own guess, perhaps not the right thing to say. And the author has not conducted in-depth testing, using the Recovery Console to manually repair Windows Vista will encounter abnormal problems. If a friend knows the exact answer to this question, why is Windows Vista Group Policy Keeping those two options, please enlighten me.

Below, the author summarizes the method of manually adding Windows XP Recovery Console in Windows Vista computer, after all, you cannot directly perform the Winnt32/cmdcons installation Recovery Console in Windows Vista, you can only add it manually.

2.1. Find another Windows XP computer with the Recovery Console installed, which will be located in the active partition's CMDCONS folder (implied), Cmldr, NTLDR, Ntdetect.com, BOOT. INI file to the active partition of Windows Vista;
