Additional search functions-search engine technology

To facilitate information query, various Search engines also provide additional Search functions (some can be selected on the Advanced Search page of the Search engine ). For example:
■ Word derivative form query
If you select this function when you enter "thought", the search engine is divided by "thought, it also queries the words "think" and "thinking" with the same root.
■ Web snapshot (Snap Shot)
You can call up the archive file of the web page directly from the engine Database Cache, so that you can determine whether to access the website after previewing the content of the web page, or view the original page when the corresponding web page changes. The cache usually stores the text part of the webpage, and the image and other multimedia elements need to be downloaded from the corresponding website in real time. Compared with other additional functions, "Web Snapshots" are quite practical.
Similar to Web Snapshots, there is also a "web preview" function (such as "Sneek-a-Peek" of the WiseNut engine). When you select this function, A window is opened below the entry to download and display the corresponding webpage content.
■ Internal website query
When you find a webpage, search engine can query other pages of the website. Commands such as "site:" and "host:" are supported.
■ Horizontal query
When a user finds a webpage of interest, the search engine can query other webpages with similar content (not limited to the same website ). Generally, the "Similar Pages" or "More results like this" link is provided after the information entry.
■ Concept extension query
When you query by a keyword, the search engine lists other search conditions in the relevant fields for you to choose from. For example, if you enter "furniture", it lists information categories such as "outdoor furniture", "patio furniture", and "office furniture" for query.
In addition to the above features, search engines have begun to provide classified searches, such as news searches, image searches, News Group searches, and Flash searches. The original intention of the search engine is good, all for the convenience of users, as to what is useful and what is useless, fully depends on personal preferences. In our opinion, the search engine is only a tool for information query, unless you want to become an information search expert, otherwise, mastering basic search skills and applying them are enough to meet our daily needs.
