Currently, the firefox4.0beta version is popular and is widely used. However, some people install firefox4.0beta and 3.6 simultaneously, causing a mix of Firefox configuration documents, causing Firefox to crash.
Firefox supports multiple configuration files. You only need to add-P to the startup parameter.
(ArticleFor more information about how to add startup parameters, see descriptions of Firefox common startup parameters .)
After the parameter is enabled, the Firefox configuration document manager is opened.
Then you can manage the user configuration file.
The coexistence of multiple versions is as follows:
Before installing the new version of Firefox, use Firefox-P to start the configuration file manager and create a new configuration document. Use the new configuration document to start it once and disable Firefox. Firefox uses the last configuration document as the default document. The last configuration document is used during normal startup.
Then install the new Firefox. Do not use the default installation directory. It may overwrite the old firefox version and install it elsewhere. After installation, in the generated desktop shortcut, set it to-P to start. Select the new configuration document!
When using Firefox in the future, start with-P and select the corresponding configuration document for different versions.
You can also use multiple parameters, for example,-P "configuration document name corresponding to Firefox version" to enable Firefox of different versions in multiple shortcuts.
For example, in my shortcuts:
" D: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox 4.0 \ firefox.exe "-- no-remote-P firefox_4.0
" D: \ Program Files \ Mozilla Firefox \ firefox.exe "-- no-remote-P firefox_3.16
-- no-remote is used to run firefox with multiple configuration documents. You can also start multiple versions of Firefox, but note that the configuration document of the last Firefox startup will be set as default.
Generally, setting Firefox to-P startup has many advantages. You can use multiple configuration documents to create n Firefox with different functions at the same time. You can have a dedicated installation extension for daily use, to make it a routine use of Firefox, there is a configuration document dedicated to install debugging tools, make it a dedicated development Firefox, etc ~~~
Personal operations:
1. Install Firefox 3.16
2. Add-P after modifying the shortcut, start to select the configuration file mode, and rename the configuration file to firefox_3.16 (default path)
3. Install Firefox 4.0 (note that the installation is not in the same directory as 3.16)
4. Add-P after the shortcut mode is modified. Start and select the configuration file mode. Set the custom configuration file to firefox_4.0 (the default path can be used)
5. Two Firefox shortcuts are used on the desktop: Firefox 4.0 and Firefox 3.16.
The corresponding method target is modified as follows:
-- No-remote-P Firefox 4.0
-- No-remote-P Firefox 3.16
The default system location of Firefox configuration file is:
C: \ Documents and Settings \ your USERNAME \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ profiles
Finished, the lovely Firefox mm can coexist perfectly with 3 and 4.
