After XP is reinstalled, the disk is denied access and cannot access the encrypted folder.

A few days ago, I helped a friend reinstall the Windows XP operating system. I thought it was very simple. I didn't expect a problem after the installation was completed.

First, after the reinstallation is complete, it is found that a disk partition cannot be accessed, and "disk (partition) access is denied" is displayed. Check that the partition attribute shows the capacity is 0 in the format of raw. At that time, I felt a little bad, for fear that access was denied due to damage to the disk during the installation process. This was the most serious problem because the hard disk installation method was adopted during the reinstallation process, the blue screen in the middle is displayed once, and then the reinstallation is started again after the restart, And the gohost method is used to complete the reinstallation. But think carefully, the entire process does not do any destructive operations on the disk, the disk is not likely to be damaged. So I checked the partition attributes and finally found the problem on "user permission. After the reinstallation, the user in the partition is not the current login user, but a useless user, so right-click the drive letter, select "attribute", and then select "security ", delete useless users, add their usernames, and change their permissions. In addition, note that you can click the "advanced" button in the security options and select the "owner" tab, select "Replace sub-container and object owner ". If there is no security option, you can remove the check before "use simple file sharing" in the folder option (open my computer, select the tool menu, and then select the folder option, you can right-click a disk in NTFS format, and the security options are displayed in the properties menu.

After the operation above, the access to the partition is denied, but some of the folders are displayed in green. Before the reinstallation, I found these green folders, but neglected, these folders are encrypted. After the reinstallation, we found that these green folders could not be accessed, So we realized the seriousness of the problem: we had not backed up the ntfs efs encrypted certificate Before reinstallation, but now we have reinstalled the system disk (disk C) it has been overwritten by the gohost method. Theoretically, without backing up encrypted certificates, these encrypted files cannot be decrypted. This is really troublesome. At that time, my head sweated and I felt so negligent that I forgot these encrypted files, not to mention backing up certificates. Later, I went to the Internet to find a method. The vast majority of answers were disappointing. There was no possibility that the certificate would not be decrypted. When I was about to give up, I found a tool: Advanced EFS data recovery, with a try, I hope that I can decrypt it successfully. The decryption method is as follows:

1. Open advanced EFS data recovery (my version is 4.2 ), select the "EFS Related Files" tab, click "scan key", and then select the system partition, at the same time, select scan sector to scan for the key. Any Green Key that appears is available.

2. Select the "encrypted file" tab and click "Scan Encrypted File". After scanning, select a Green file in the encrypted file list and click "decrypt ", you can decrypt all the encrypted files.

Although all the files have been decrypted, I feel lucky. The advanced EFS data recovery decryption method is to find the original encryption key to decrypt. if the system is just reinstalled, the original key is not damaged on the disk, you can retrieve the slice by scanning the slice. If the reinstallation takes longer and longer time, the feasibility of retrieving the key becomes smaller and smaller.

Reinstalling XP is not that simple, and it is still a lot of trouble.
