Aix nim configuration and client installation system

I. Preparations
1. Write the/etc/hosts file
Ip master
Ip client
2. Back up an aix instance
Smit mksysb (cp to/nim/mksysb; here resources can also be created through cd)


Ii. installation and configuration
1. Installation
Lslpp-l | grep nim
2. Set NIM MASTER
Smit nim
Configure the NIM Environment
--> Advanced Configuration
--> IMitialize the NIM Master Only
Enter the network name and Network Interface

2. Create an installation Resource (lpp) Type
Smit nim
--> Create Perform NIM Administration Tasks
--> Manage Resources
--> Define a Resourse
Select mksysb
Enter the Resource Name: lppsource_yujing
Server_of_Resource: master (F4 Select server)
Location of Resource:/nim/mksysb/mksysb_6107.img




3. Create SPOT Resources
Smit nim
--> Create Perform NIM Administration Tasks
--> Manage Resources
--> Define a Resourse
Select spot
Enter the Resource Name spot_yujing.
Server_of_Resource: master
Source of install image: lppsource_yujing
Location of Resource:/nim/mksysb/




4. Define the NIM Client
Smit nim
--> Create Perform NIM Administration Tasks
--> Manage machines
--> Define a machine
Enter the client commands defined in hosts.


5. client System installation preparation
Smit nim
--> Perform NIM software installation and Maintenance Tasks
--> Install and update software
Select machines or groups
Select the installation type ------------ mksysb
Select lpp resource lppsource_yujing
Select spot resource spot_yujing
Note: accept new license agreements ---------- yes
Reboot -------- no








6. MKSYSB recovery on the NIM Client
1) Start hmc from sms and select Setup Remote IPL
2) Select the NIC that communicates with the NIM master
3) IP addresses, gateways, and subnet masks of NIM master and NIM client
Go back to the upper menu and test the connectivity with the NIM master.
4) Select boot option from SMS and network
