We have discussed some of the topics related to the AIX telnet command in the previous article. This time, we will give a detailed explanation of some specific command operations and their meanings. I hope this article will help you understand the usage of these commands.

Environment Variable

The following environment variables can be used with the AIX telnet command:

EMULATE is the same as the-e tag to overwrite the terminal type negotiation. if the EMULATE environment variable is defined as vt100 or 3270, the telnet command simulates the DEC VT100 terminal or 3270 terminal respectively. if the EMULATE variable is undefined or the value is none, the telnet command operates normally. if the EMULATE variable is set to vt100 or 3270, the remotely registered TERM environment variable should also be set to the same value. you can use the env command to check the connection.

TNESC specifies the alternate telnet escape characters except the default value. Ctrl-] is used for the AIX telnet command, and Ctrl-T is used for the tn command or Ctrl-C for the tn3270 command. to change the telnet Escape Sequence, set TNESC to the octal value of the expected character. then export TNESC. for example, set TNESC to 35 and change the vertical column of telnet to Ctrl-].

MAP3270 specifies a backup file that contains the user's 3270 keyboard ing. The MAP3270 variable must contain the full path name of the backup file. Create a backup file in the same format as the default file/etc/map3270.

RM_HOST_LANG specifies the EBCDIC code page used on remote host 3270. before using the AIX telnet command in telnet) to a non-English 3270 host, set the environment variable RM_HOST_LANG to the correct code page. the default value is English. for available code pages, see "converter programming overview" in the AIX 5L Version 5.2 National Language Support Guide and Reference 』. format the RM_HOST_LANG environment variable by specifying the expected code page.

Note:

The tn3270 command does not support DBCS because it does not support the terminal type of DBCS.

The AIX telnet command uses the iconv command to convert characters. You can use the genxlt command to change the default conversion table.

Flag

-D. Enable the debugging mode.

-E TerminalType overwrites the terminal type negotiation. The possible values are vt100, 3270, or none.

-N TraceFile records the network trace information to the file specified by the TraceFile variable.

-P: Save the current tty property.

-F indicates the forwarding credential. If os5 is not the current authentication method, this flag will be ignored. If the current DCE credential is not marked as forwarding, authentication will fail.
