IT168: This time the MySQL technical essay won the third place to have what feeling, have what experience to share with you?

Jenzhiang: It was a bit of a surprise to get third place. For me to submit the manuscript, the main is my usual time to learn MySQL accumulated part of the notes, also did not feel how advanced, so at the beginning did not intend to participate in the essay contest. Of course, as long as it can be useful to everyone, I personally am very willing to share their experience with the people.

IT168: When did you start to grow up to be a MySQL master from scratch?

Jenzhiang: The first contact with MySQL in 02/03 years, that is, the freshman year, but just started working for two years, has been engaged in Oracle's work, and then turned to the MySQL database work.

Learn any kind of database, of course, including MySQL, its learning methods are actually more interlinked. That is to look at the documents, diligent to do experiments, diligent exchanges.

At the very beginning, I read the Official document manual over and over again to enhance the understanding of the basic concepts of MySQL database;

After a certain understanding of the various concepts of MySQL database, you can verify and deepen your understanding through various experiments.

IT168: What advice do you have for the new man now?

Jenzhiang: For new entrants, I still insist on the proposal from the MySQL document manual start, only a clear understanding of the MySQL database of the basic concepts and principles, lay a solid foundation, will make the study of the back easier. A lot of people learn technology very much like to start with some examples, in fact, I personally think this is a bad way to learn. After learning a lot of it is not know the reason why, for the follow-up development is very unfavorable. As we recruit now, whether it's MySQL dba or Oracle DBA, we don't particularly value what the candidates do and how much they know, because a lot of them are just skills and it's very easy to learn. We will be more inclined to the basic knowledge of the original reason and the concept of clearer candidates, because these are a true technical staff should have the quality.

IT168: New students learn MySQL, employment aspects of how to position? What is the job demand for DBAs?

Jenzhiang: The most important industry for MySQL DBA is internet companies. And, as far as we know, the MySQL DBA's job opportunities are actually more than that of Oracle DBAs, and from what we've learned about the recruitment of multiple companies, it's much easier to recruit an Oracle dba than a MySQL dba, perhaps because a few years ago my It's a big reason that SQL hasn't been taken seriously.

IT168: What are your prospects for MySQL? What do you think of Oracle's acquisition of Sun's impact on MySQL?

Jenzhiang: Recently everyone is talking about ORACLE's acquisition of the hot topic of SUN, the most talked about on the internet is the MySQL open source database future direction of concern. In my personal view, the prospects for MySQL may not be too bad after the ORACLE takeover of MySQL. First of all, according to the Oracle database current market strategy, want to enter the Internet industry is very difficult. Its high licence costs, and the centralized architecture of Oracle databases for centralized hardware, can make it hard to use costs. And this field is now the world of MySQL. I personally think that Oracle may be more inclined to let MySQL fill the Oracle database in this market, improve the company's overall database market share, and through a variety of additional services to profit from it.
