Step 4: Format the data disk
If you select a data disk when you create an instance, the system needs to format the data disk before you log on to the instance. If you have not purchased a data disk, you can skip this step.
In addition, you can configure the data disk in multiple partitions according to your business needs. It is recommended that you use the system's own tools for partitioning operations.
Note : Cloud server ECS only supports two partitions of the data disk , not two partitions of the system disk (whether it is Windows or Linux). If you force a Third-party tool to partition the system disk two times, you may cause an unknown risk, such as a system crash, data loss, and so on.
This section describes how to format a data disk by taking an instance of the Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition (64-bit Chinese version).
Log on to an instance through Remote Desktop Connection or administrative console.
Open the Server Manager in the lower-left corner of the taskbar.
You will see the following information to remind you to format the data disk. Click Format Disk .
Set the disk parameters, the volume label, and then click Start .
The warning dialog box pops up. Because it is the first time a data disk is used, no backup is required, so click OK .
When
Formatting is complete, you can view all disks in the instance through Server Manager > file and Storage Services > volume > disk .
