Step 5: Extend the system disk (only for instances where the system disk is greater than 40GB)

The system disk does not have more than 40GB users, please skip this step.

If you select a system disk that is larger than 40GB when you create an instance, or if you replace the system disk, you will find that the disk size is only 40GB after the initial logon instance. You need to expand the system disk manually.

The following examples of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012 explain how to extend a system disk.

Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition (64-bit Chinese version)

If you purchase a 50GB system disk, or replace the system disk to increase the capacity to 50GB, after logging into the cloud server, you will find that Windows C disk can only see 40GB capacity.

You need to extend the unallocated disk space. The operation is as follows:

Log on to the instance and click Server Manager on the right side of the Start menu.

Navigate to Storage > Disk Management . You can see that the C disk still has 10GB space unallocated.

Right-click the C disk and select the extended Volume .

Click Next .

The default is to extend the extra disk space to all. Click Next .

Click Finish .

You can see that the C disk has been expanded to 50GB.

Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition (64-bit Chinese version)

Suppose you purchased a 50GB system disk, but after you first logged into the cloud server, you found that Windows C disk only saw 40GB capacity.

View the following: Open the Server Manager in the lower left corner of the taskbar and navigate to Server Manager > file and Storage Services > volume viewing.

Navigating to the volume > disk , the actual capacity was found to be 50GB, but 10GB was not yet allocated.

You need to extend the unallocated disk space. Go back to the volume, and then right-click the disk and select the expansion volume .

Set the new size to the maximum size value (50GB in this example), and then click OK .

file and storage services > volumes , you can see that the capacity of the disk has become 50GB.

Restart the instance and extend the completion.
