I am very glad that president Xu has given me such a lofty honor to talk about my experience at Peking University.

It can be said that Peking University is a place that has changed my life, a place that has elevated myself, and finally moved me from a rural child to a place in the world. Without Peking University, I am definitely not today. A series of good memories left a series of pains. It is in the middle of beauty and suffering, in the middle of frustration, struggle and progress, finally found yourself and began to do something for yourself, for the family, for the society.

Student Life is wonderful and has many wonderful memories. I still remember that there was a boy in our class who pulled the violin from the girl's dormitory every day, hoping to attract the girl's attention. As a result, the girl threw a bottle of water. I still remember that in order to attract the girl's attention, I helped the girl to carry the bag every winter and summer vacation. Later, I found that the girl had a boyfriend and asked her why she wanted me to carry the bag. She said she wanted to give her a break. I still remember that I didn't speak Mandarin when I first arrived at Peking University. The class introduced each other when I started the first class meeting. I stood up and introduced myself. Because he wrote a book "The History of Western Aesthetics", which is the second book I studied after I went to college.

Why is it the second one? This is because I came here first. After Entering Peking University, I went to the dormitory. I have a classmate who is already in the dormitory. The classmate was lying in bed and reading a book called The Rise and Fall of the third empire. I went to Peking University and a rural child went to Peking University. I took it for granted that I was learning English. How could I read other books. So I asked him one sentence and said, "Do you want to read such books in college ?" He took the book out of his eyes and glanced at me. He ignored me and continued to read his book. This glance remains in my heart and remains till today. I know that Peking University is not only a professional, but also a large number of books. You are qualified to call yourself a student at Peking University. So the first book I read at Peking University is the rise and fall of the third empire, and I read it three times. Later, I went to this student and said, "Let's talk about the rise and fall of the third empire." Later, he said, "I forgot ."

I also remember that my mentor, Professor Li Funing, was originally the director of the Peking University English department. When he gave us the fourth book of "new concepts", he wrote the board very completely every time, very beautiful. Every time it starts from the upper left corner of the blackboard, when the bell rings, it just ends in the lower right corner. I still remember Professor Luo jingguo, a professor in the history of English literature. I had a bad mood in Peking University in the last year, so I had a poor test. I remember a lot of difficulties when I was at Peking University. Because, I just said that Mandarin is not good, and the second is a mess of English. Even though I took the college entrance examination to Peking University after three years of hard work-because I fell into the rankings twice, I finally unexpectedly got to Peking University. I never thought that Peking University is the place where I can go to school. She should be something in my heart that will never be reached. It is only thirty years later that I am today. But in fact, my English is poor, because in rural areas, I can neither listen nor speak, but only recite grammar and words. So when we were in different classes, fifty students were divided into three classes, and I was assigned Class A because my English score was close to the full score. But one month later, I was transferred to Class C by myself. Class C is called the "Speech Tone and hearing impairment class ".

I remember that I did not even read "Dream of Red Mansions" before entering Peking University, so I tried my best to catch up with me when I saw my classmates read a book. As a result, I have read more than eight hundred books in college and spent five years. However, I still did not catch up with my classmates. I remember that my shift leader Wang Qiang is a book-related scholar. He is still in New Oriental and is the president of the New Oriental Education Research Institute. I followed him every time he went to buy books. At that time, Peking University sent us 22 yuan of living expenses every month. Wang Qiang's hobby was to split the living expenses into two parts, half for books and half for food tickets. The money for books will never be used to buy meal tickets. If he doesn't have a meal ticket, he will borrow it everywhere. If he doesn't, he will steal it everywhere. Later, I found that he had a good habit. It is no exaggeration to say that the students in our class were at Peking University, and they were one of the most attended classes. In our class, the activities were very active at that time, and there were several simple poets. Later, a famous poet called Xichuan, named Liu Jun, was from our class. I still remember that our class was the best team at Peking University, but one night everyone had a good time, the results were criticized by the Ministry of Education in the second week. At that time, dancing was required to be very formal. It was considered a violation of discipline when the boys and girls were a little closer. So now you are happier than we were. I also remember that we had 50 students in our class, and we were 25 boys and 25 girls. After hearing this data, I was very excited. I think everyone should be a fit. I didn't expect all the girls to match the handsome and romantic boys. If my appearance is not very good, my heart is full of rich feelings, And there is huge development potential in the future, girls generally cannot see it.

I remember that I had struggled for two years and hoped to beat my classmates in my score, but as Mr. Li said just now, although you may have taken a good test in the middle school entrance examination, however, Peking University has a large number of talented people. You may be both top-notch or top-notch in IQ, and are also the No. 1 or No. 2 person in each province. Therefore, catching up is a very difficult process, even though I have to learn for an hour or two more than other students every day, however, at the end of my second year of college, I still ranked the last few in the class. Very diligent and depressing. No girl loves me either. As a result, I got a serious illness in my third-year college. This disease is called infectious tuberculosis. At that time, I was dizzy, because I knew "Dream of Red Mansions" and read the chapter about Lin Daiyu's death due to tuberculosis. I thought my life was over, later, Peking University hospital doctor told me that the disease can be cured, but it needs to stay in the hospital for a year. I have lived in the hospital for a year, and I have been bored for a year. I have also written more than six hundred poems. Since then, I have been connected to writing poems, but I have a wealth of emotions, but I don't have a good style of writing. So even though I have published several poems later, I have not finally become a poet. Later, I felt very lucky because I found that all those who really became poets had an accident. We wrote poems together with the less famous poet Haizi. Later, he wrote a beautiful poem called "face to the sea, spring blossoms". Every one of us may be able to recite it. Later, when I heard that he committed suicide by sleep, I cried for a whole day. From then on, I put down my pen and never wrote any more poems.

I remember that when I was at Peking University, when I graduated from the fourth grade, I still ranked the last few in the class. However, at that time, I had a good attitude. I know that I am smarter than my fellow students, but I know that I have the ability to continue working hard. So I said this at the graduation ceremony of our class, and now my classmates can remember, "Everyone has achieved excellent results. I am a lagging classmate in our class. But I want to rest assured that I will never give up. I have been doing what you have done for five years. I have been doing what you have done for ten years. I have been doing what you have done for ten years ". I said to them, "If it doesn't work, I will keep myself in a good mood and be healthy. I will send you away after the age of 80 ."

Many students do not need to work hard to reach the highest peak. After graduating from Peking University, many students may easily enter prestigious universities such as Harvard, Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge for further study. Many students are full of talent, so they don't need to learn. For example, I just mentioned my shift leader Wang Qiang. He is superior in imitation ability. He can listen to any sentence in any place, And the imitation will never be the same. So he became an announcer for the North broadcasting station for four years. I listen to His voice every day, and my teeth are filled with hate. Later, when I arrived in the United States, I went to the American Broadcasting Station to do things for a while. Therefore, a person has a talent. They are eagles. However, we all know that another animal has reached the top of the pyramid. It's a snail bait. A snail can only climb up. It may take one month, two months, or even one or two years to climb from the bottom, but at the top of the pyramid, people found traces of snails. I believe that snails will never climb smoothly. They will surely fall, climb, fall, and climb again. What students need to know is that as long as a snail bait climbs to the top of the pyramid, the world it sees in its eyes is the same as what it has achieved. So, maybe some of our colleagues here are e and some are snails. When I was in North China, including today, I always thought I was a snail bait. But I have been crawling, maybe I have not yet climbed to the top of the pyramid. But as long as you are crawling, it is enough to leave a day for you to be touched. I often tell my classmates that if we don't leave some days for ourselves, your life will be white.

Many of us entered Peking University with outstanding achievements, but Peking University is not the end of your learning, but the starting point of your life. During the period from the age of one to the age of 18, you have all listened to the teacher's words and the father and mother's words. Now you have truly started your own independent life. Then we must create some days for ourselves to touch others. We have rich families and poor families here. The starting point of our life is whether you choose to be born in a rich family or a poor family. You can't say, I was born in a poor family and said my dad gave me back. I don't want to stay here. However, we choose the end of our life. All of us are doing well. We have already reached the forefront of many Chinese children at the age of 18, because Peking University is China's pride and the pride of the world. However, the arrival of Peking University does not mean that you have achieved success. The next Fifty, sixty, or even one hundred years have become a question that everyone should think about. For me, I think we can achieve our own life as long as there are two things in our hearts.

The first is ideal. From an early age, I had a feeling that I wanted to cross the horizon and go far. I called it the desire to cross the horizon ". The feeling or envy that Xu Xiake brought to me directly caused me to score one hundred points in geography during the college entrance examination. Xu Xiake also gave me this feeling of crossing the horizon, so I made up my mind that after entering Peking University, if Xu Xiake traveled all over China, I would like to go all over the world. Now, I am realizing my dream. As long as you have an ideal, ambition, and classmates, you will eventually succeed. The first story. One of our students has a rich family. They bring a lot of apples when they arrive at Peking University on Sunday evening. At the beginning, we were very happy. We thought we were one person, but we thought we could eat one day. And after years of continuous eating, it is rare for us to eat his apple. Although Apple is his, we cannot rob him, but I have been impressed by him, that is, this child is too selfish. Later, many students in our class succeeded, but he has not yet succeeded. Later, he came to us and said, "Can I join you. A few of us have discussed this and cannot allow him to join us. The reason is very simple. We can't be sure whether he will swallow what he owns after doing things with us. He never shared his spirit in college. Therefore, for students, the first point in the college age, you have to share with them what you own, feelings, thoughts, souls, and wealth, even an Apple can be divided into six halves for everyone to eat. Because you need to know that you will get more in the future, and your contribution will never be paid in vain.

Let me tell my own story. I stayed at Peking University for five years, but I stayed at Peking University for eleven years. Later I became a teacher for six and a half years. I have been a student at Peking University for five years and I love labor since I was a child. I have never had a very bad performance, but I want to attract the attention of others, therefore, I have been cleaning from the first grade of primary school to the university. I hope my teacher will not scold me. After arriving at Peking University, I developed a good habit of cleaning the house for my students every day. I had to clean the house for four years and never complained. Therefore, we have never ranked the health duty table in our dormitory. Every day I carry six kettles and fetch water for my dormitory students. It is a kind of sports exercise. Four years later, this was still the case. Sometimes I forgot to fetch water. My dormitory students said, "How can I not fetch water ". But they haven't gotten water for a long time. But I think this is what I should do for me. Because everyone is a classmate, mutual help is taken for granted. Many people think that I have done this thing in vain. After another 10 years, by the end of year 95, New Oriental had achieved a certain scale. I wanted to find a partner and then I ran to the United States and Canada to find my classmates, all of them are examples of my life, including Mr. Wang Qiang. Finally, I brought the dollar back to seduce them and spent very generously every day to let them know that they can make money in China. I think this will probably bring them back. But then they came back and gave me a reason to surprise me. They said: "Yu Minhong, we went back to fight for you for four years ." They said, "We know that you have such a spirit that you will never give us porridge if you have a meal, so let's go back to China and work together for New Oriental ." Today we have new Oriental.

A person's life is a struggle, and his life is divided into trivial and great. If we have a great ideal and a kind heart, we will surely be able to pile up a lot of trivial days into a great one. But if you don't have an ideal day and stop making progress, it will always be a pile of things in your life. So here, I hope all of us can build a great life every day.
