Line Fault


This is the most difficult problem to solve in all broadband faults. Such faults are very concealed. line faults may cause many situations, but the speed of the Internet connection is slow or unstable, you cannot access the Internet.

I. ADSL

Because ADSL is built on the original telephone line, its communication quality depends on your telephone line. It is unlikely that line faults will occur in newly created residential areas or areas with recently modified telephone lines, the possibility of line faults in areas that are still using old telephone lines is very high. There is a very convenient way to check the quality of telephone lines, that is, to pick up your phone number, listen carefully to the dial-up sound, and check whether the sound is pure or not. If the dial-up sound is pure, it indicates that your telephone line is of good quality. On the contrary, it indicates that the telephone line quality is poor. If you suspect that it is a telephone line quality problem, you can ask the Telecommunications Bureau to help you find the problem.

After troubleshooting the line problem, check whether your ADSL Modem is installed on the import of the telephone line. Be sure that the phone can only be connected to the telephone signal output line of the ADSL filter splitter, it cannot be connected to an ADSL device in parallel. Check whether the telephone line in your home is damaged. If yes, replace it with a new one.

Because ADSL technology has high requirements on the quality of telephone lines, the current use of ADSL is a RADSL? That is, rate adaptive ADSL ?, If the telephone line from the telephone Bureau to the user is disturbed by external factors for a certain period of time, RADSL dynamically adjusts the access speed of the user based on the quality of the line and the distance between transmission.

Therefore, before installation, you should also pay attention to how far your home is from the nearest Telecommunications Bureau. If it is far away, your ADSL will certainly have a lot of problems, so ADSL is most suitable for urban users to install.

Ii. Cable Modem

Cable Modem is relatively less likely to have a line fault, because when Cable TV companies install Wired connection, generally, a new port will be taken from the corridor to your home, so that it can be separated from the original cable TV line, minimizing the possibility of line failure. In addition, installation personnel of cable TV network companies generally use professional signal testing instruments to inspect the newly installed lines after installing the cables online to determine the signal strength to meet the requirements. However, it does not mean that there is no possibility of line failure when there is a line through, which is mainly used when Cable Modem is moved to another place, if this happens, you can only pay some money for the cable TV network company to help you install a new port.

Iii. FTTB

Because The Great Wall FTTB (Fiber To The Building, Fiber To The Building) uses The line that has been laid for nearly two years, it has a lower chance of line failure. If a line fault occurs, the user should first rectify the fault before reporting for repair.

Access device fault

The access device, also known as the Modem, Nic, both wired and ADSL, must be connected to the Great Wall FTTB through the NIC.

I. Modem

1. Modem Selection

When broadband can be installed at the beginning, access providers generally provide brand-name Modem imported directly. At that time, many users are happy to be able to use this type of brand-name Modem. However, after a long period of use, more and more users find that these imported devices are not as good as they think, and they often fail to access the Internet, at this time, the domestic broadband Modem appeared in the market, these domestic devices are designed and manufactured according to the actual situation in China. The domestic Modem not only greatly reduces the bandwidth access cost, but also finds that their performance is not inferior to that of imported equipment, but also superior to that of imported Modem in many cases. So here I would like to remind my friends who are preparing to install broadband recently that Modem is generally provided by the access provider when installing broadband, the devices provided by the access provider vary with time. Sometimes they are made in China and sometimes imported, therefore, if possible, we should try to ask the access provider to provide domestic equipment.

2. Modem Maintenance

Many broadband users, especially those with wire connections, have long-open Modem habits and have had heated discussions on this forum. According to my opinion, if you do not access the internet 24 hours a day, you 'd better disable the Modem before going to bed at night. This will have a great advantage for the service life of the device, especially for the hot weather, it is necessary to let the Modem take a rest. Of course, if you access the Internet within 24 hours, you do not need to shut down.

Broadband operators generally provide long-term repair services for their own access devices. Therefore, they should be guaranteed as soon as possible when the equipment is damaged. Do not try to repair the equipment by yourself.

Ii. Nic

These three broadband access methods generally require Nic access, unless you are using a built-in or USB Modem. There are many network card faults, so it cannot be clearly stated here. I will only introduce them based on some special broadband situations. Broadband access providers generally provide paid network cards, but many users feel that the network cards provided by the access provider are not only expensive but also of low performance, so they will purchase and install their own network cards. However, I would like to remind you that you must select the most common Nic brands when purchasing NICs. Generally, these NICs have good compatibility.

If the NIC driver fails to be installed or is frequently crashed, you can change the NIC to a slot or install the NIC driver before installing the driver of other devices. In addition, many 10/100 M Adaptive NICs may encounter unstable transmission speeds when used for broadband access. If you encounter such problems, you can try to force your Nic to work in 10 M mode.

Software faults

If you have a network fault, you can basically identify it as a software fault after you have eliminated all the faults I mentioned above. First, check whether your computer contains viruses or hacker software. For ADSL, dial-up is generally not allowed when the most fault occurs. Many users prefer third-party dialing software downloaded from the Internet, but sometimes it is prone to problems. In this case, you can switch to the dialing software provided by China Telecom. Although the software provided by China Telecom is not necessarily the best, at least the compatibility is better. For wired connections, you only need to directly use the default settings of the system. For FTTB, the settings are different because the server IP addresses of each cell are different, but the setting steps are the same, you only need to set up according to the operation manual provided by the access provider. If the problem persists, check whether the parameters of your access provider have changed. If the problem persists, set the parameters according to the changed parameters.
