1. First format the USB drive as a GUID partition format--partition with Mac OS extension (journaled)

2. Extract the downloaded 10.9GM installation files and put them on the desktop "Install OS X mavericks.app"

3. Right-click on the installation file to display the contents of the package into the directory/contents/resources/

4. Copy the file Createinstallmedia to the desktop, so we have three key files. As shown below: 109 is my USB flash drive after formatting

5. Open the terminal:

Sudo-s

6. Typing command:/users/xuxu/desktop/createinstallmedia--volume/volumes/109--applicationpath/users/xuxu/desktop/install OS X Mavericks.app [--force]
