WirelessLimited network bandwidth, complex time-varying channel characteristics, and open communication environments lead to signal interference between nodes and provide services that ensure service quality, effective network management and networking technologies must be used to improve link capacity and network transmission efficiency. The WMN networking technology includes several main aspects: network configuration and deployment, power control, mobility management and access control, andRoutingProtocol design.
Network configuration and deployment
To enable WMN to have good scalability, fault tolerance, and self-regulation capabilities, large coverage and network capacity, you need to study network configuration and deployment. First, we need to plan the deployment location of the Mesh router with weak mobility and backbone networks. On the one hand, we can ensure that no signal coverage blind zone appears, the required Mesh router needs to be as low as possible to reduce costs. On the other hand, multiple paths are provided in hotspot areas to increase the number of user access. The network transmission capability can be further improved by combining multi-input, multi-output (MIMO), and directional antenna technologies.
Mesh routers can provide access services for various heterogeneous networks. Therefore, how to allocate multiple wireless interfaces of Mesh routers to ensure the connectivity between networks is a problem that WMN should solve. In addition, in WMN, the multi-channel method can be used to increase the network throughput, but in a wireless multi-hop environment, multi-channel communication methods also face more urgent problems: the multi-channel WMN distributed service allocation among channels is mentioned in the literature, channel Coordination and broadcast support problems exist, and multi-channel related protocols are designed and implemented.
Power Control
In WMN, although there is no energy limit on the Mesh router, power control is also required to ensure the connectivity of WMN, control network interference, and improve the frequency reuse rate. Proper transmission power can reduce interference between signals in wireless channels and improve spectral multiplexing efficiency.
Unlike Mesh routers, Mesh clients are generally mobile nodes with limited energy. Therefore, the effectiveness of power needs to be considered when designing network protocols. For example, some Mesh clients may be IP phones or sensors, so power efficiency is a factor to consider. For some WMN applications, implementing power control will optimize network connectivity and improve network performance.
Mobility Management and Access Control
WMN mobility management has two meanings:
Location Management and mobile switch management. Location Management is mainly used to solve location registration, while mobile switchover management includes switchover initialization and new connection ?? Seamless connection service. In cellular networks, mobility management is centrally managed by base stations, mobile exchange centers, and location databases. in Ad hoc Networks, mobility management is closely integrated with routing protocols, it can be seen as a distributed solution.
Because WMN features multiple hops and low mobility at the same time, its mobility management needs to be fully integrated with the above two Network Mobility management technologies. Access control means that users can use various wireless transmission technologies to effectively access WMN. Especially in some hotspot areas, when the number of nodes is large and the load is heavy, how to control the access of new nodes to ensure the service quality of connected nodes.
Routing Protocol Design
WMN uses multi-hop relay to achieve network access, so that the routing protocol design can refer to the routing protocol design method of the Ad hoc network. However, there are still differences between the two. On the one hand, Ad hoc networks are composed of APs, Mesh routers, gateways, and other nodes with relatively weak mobility. On the other hand, most data services in WMN are sent to Gateway nodes by user nodes, ad hoc networks provide service transmission modes between nodes. In addition, the requirements for power consumption are relatively weak. In addition, the research on the WMN routing protocol can also refer to the routing technology used in the Internet, such as the use of different routing protocols in autonomous regions and regions.
