Another UX story: new music, old music

Tell me a story of my own.

When I first arrived at the orchestra, all the music scores of the orchestra were hand-copied, with different paper sizes and handwriting. Some music scores were copied too many times, we can't even see the line of the Five-line spectrum. I was happy to print out my score again and look fresh (at that time, my sisters who were in the voice department of the Bass also touched a lot of light ).

Later, some music bands were hard to obtain for a while, and I helped print a lot of scores. As a result, i'm glad that everyone's bag contains new and old scores.

Until the summer vacation before the first visit to Europe, about half of the bag was a new music. I think it's not too shabby to go abroad, so I decided to print all the music scores for this performance on a computer, so that everyone could visit with a full new album -- I even changed my bag, the beautiful transparent bag is printed with the name of each person.

It took a long time to complete the work, but it was finally completed. The music was beautifully printed, and each song had a uniform and clean cover. I found a problem when everything was rewarding:

In the past, although the handwriting spectrum was messy, in fact, we usually rely on the familiarity with different kinds of paper and handwriting to quickly find the desired music from a bag of music, the clutter has already formed a strong identifiability-in terms of availability, it is very important. Although the new music score is clean, it is of great help to the playing process, but the recognition is very poor-all the music scores look exactly the same. However, finding music scores from a large number of music records is a very important task and must be optimized.

So I adopted a new design, and pasted a color sticker in the upper left corner of each new album art. I use four shapes: Square, diamond, circle, and elliptical. Each shape has several colors: red, yellow, dark blue, sky blue, green, and pink. Each piece of music is marked with a mark. On a very concise cover, this small logo is very conspicuous, and different tracks are immediately separated.

In order to be as intuitive as possible, I also consider the selection of tags-as far as possible based on the content of the music to choose the appropriate tag. There are some simple rules, such as: Chinese music are marked with red, more serious music with square, more moderate with round or diamond, more beautiful with oval. In addition, we try to use rehearsal relevance as much as possible. For example, lousland and Figaro rehearsed at the same time. The two pieces of music were very difficult for strings, so I used dark blue. The former used square because of the warm atmosphere, the latter uses a circle because of elegance. "chai Wu" and "chai Yi Steel Association" are also contemporary tracks, so they all adopt pink colors (this color is mainly used by other colors, and we have to find a unused color for another portal.

This is the story of the new music and the old music.
