 其次,苹果2017年度的产品线分割和定价策略也是导致iPhone X销量不佳最重要的原因,没有之一。地球人都知道苹果于2017年推出3款iPhone产品,把整个产品线分割成两段,iPhone8/ 8 Plus创新乏善可陈,简直令人作呕。加之,iPhone8连续的电池事件,给整个手机销售蒙上了重重的阴影;iPhone X则有一些创新干货,但Face ID和OLED屏幕实在也撑不起1000美元的售价,如此背景下,消费者就陷入纠结了:如果购买iPhone X,大家的心理价位始终到不了1000美元,但如果购买iPhone8/8Plus又显得非常Low,也就是说,Face ID和OLED刘海屏幕非但没有拉高iPhone X的销量,反倒是大大地抑制了iPhone8/8Plus的销量。事实上,当iPhone X千呼万唤始出来的时候,iPhone8/8Plus的订单几乎呈现消失的状态。在很长一段时间内,苹果在对待定价上都处于骑虎难下的局面,他们早期的策略应该是利用iPhone X,重新定义智能手机的价格体系。简单点说,苹果希望消费者因iPhone X的创新,愿意掏出1000美元来购买智能终端。正因如此,苹果才敢于在前期研发时候,不断拉高物料和其他成本之投入,连一条“要是卖不好,咱就降低价格”的路都给堵死了。况且,iPhone X要想降价,iPhone8/8plus就要跟着降价。否则,iPhone X就失去了自己特有的尊宠地位,而三个产品同时降价,对利润率的冲击太大,于是如你所见,苹果宁可砍掉了一半的订单,也没有贪图短时间内的销量。此外,iPhone X的上市时间比之iPhone8/8Plus延迟了大概五周,这不是苹果的饥饿营销,应该是产能出现问题。现在智能手机创新乏善可陈,内部空间已经塞满了密密麻麻的元器件,Face ID和刘海屏在外观上看虽然只是一个小小的改动,但整体的设计layout估计都要变更,加之Face ID是全新的元器件,相关供应商的产能、良品率都是问题,这些都影响了最终的上市日期和销量。

回首看看iPhone X的整体状况,有点“试水”的味道,或许苹果也心知肚明,做起码他们做了充分的Backup plan,从订单状况来看,iPhone X订单从4000万缩减到2000万,但其他型号的手机含iPhone6/6plus/7/7plus/SE等机型,却大有死灰复燃之势,总体订单达到3000万,也正因如此,苹果于第一季度的财报数字不会太难看,依旧健康,依旧遥遥领先竞争对手。

相比之下,苹果的供应商都是重资产企业,订单的起伏变化对他们的挑战非常大。要知道售卖的柜台,可以存放iPhone X或者iPhone8,但供应商的生产车间却非常不同的,特别是一些高端零件,比如三星向苹果供应OLED屏幕,它的生产制程同早期的iPhone屏幕大相径庭。讽刺的是,iPhone X销量不佳,最高兴的应该非三星莫属,但作为苹果的供应商,韩国人怎么也高兴不起来。毕竟,他们每出货一台OLED屏幕给到苹果,利润是110美元如果再加上芯片、电池的订单,三星可谓损失惨重。请注意笔者用的词汇,不是“少赚钱”,而是“损失惨重”,其中最微妙的点在于,整个产业链在去年的讨论主题,基本上都是“如何吃下iPhone X 4000万订单,迎接美好的春天”。于是在设备、产房、人力等资源准备上都按照4000万的规模来准备,这些重资产前期都是一次性投入,如果没有足够的出货量,前期投入的成本很难收回,再加上因订单变化导致的制造工艺切换的损失,就更加难以估量了。iPhone X销量疲软给予苹果和供应商血淋淋的教训,但远非世界末日。如前文所述,iPhone X更像是一次苹果的试水,遭逢此劫,苹果连同整个供应链都更具有经验。比如,通过iPhone X的表现,苹果基本上摸清楚了消费者的心理底线,从而在投入成本以及定价策略上做相应的调整。况且,经过一整年的调整,生产制造环节已经更加成熟,势必会在良品率、效率、材料选择上更具竞争力,成本更加低廉,这些都会给苹果的定价策略提供巨大的空间。总之,我们大可不必因iPhone X的砍单而看衰整个产业链,这或许只是一次成功的”实验”。(科技新发现 康斯坦丁/文)
