Application Tutorial of diskless Workstation

We mentioned the erection of the windows9x workstation without disk, which is the basis of the normal operation of the Diskless network. In order to meet our further learning and testing needs, diskless networks, especially diskless workstations also need to install some necessary hardware and software to make our diskless network.

1. Install the video card

We use the Internet Café Terminal client operating system for the Windows9x video card for zeline-v2m2 as an example of the installation of the video card.

[1] Log on to the terminal client as a Super Administrator (Administrator).

[2] Type the "netuseg:wyv2m2" command to map "V2M2" to the client's G disk.

[3] Execute "SCTUP.CXC" file.

[4] Back to DOS, use the "copy" command to copy all the files in the "C:mxicwin31" directory to the "c:windows" directory. So the graphics card is properly installed into the network, and finally re-enter the windows9x can be.

2. Install the sound card

We use "Yamaha719" as an example to download and install the sound card in the Terminal client system.

[1] Log on to the terminal client as a Super Administrator (Administrator).

[2] Type the "netsej:wywindows98" command to map "Windows98" to client g disk.

[3] Create a directory "C:sound" in the C-packing directory.

[4] Copy all the files in the J disk to this directory.

[5] Edit the "install.bat" file in this directory to change all "A:" to "C:SOIMD".

[6] perform "Install.bat", follow the prompts, and then exit the installer after the file copy is complete.

[7] Copy all files under the "C:opl3temp" directory to the "Cawindows" directory.

Finally enter the WINDOWS9X system, the system will be white to complete the driver under Windows9x under the final installation under. The installation of this sound card is completed after that. Go to "Settings" in "Programs", then you go to "sound and multimedia" in Control Panel, and if the sound card is installed successfully, then the content in the sounds and media is optional, as shown in Figure 1: Otherwise, it is grayed out and unavailable.

If you have successfully installed the driver for your sound card from the client in Windows9x, the client will automatically have a sound after logging on to the 2000 diskless terminal.

3. Install application software

The first thing to point out is that when we install an application on the server side, we may experience the following problems. If Terminal Services is installed on the server, the vast majority of the installation files (such as "Setup.exe") run directly with error prompts and cannot continue.

The correct installation method is to select the "My Computer Control Panel Add/Remove Programs" command first, open the Add/Remove Programs dialog box as shown in Figure 2, select Add new program CD or floppy, and then follow the prompts.

The vast majority of applications, such as Photoshop, QQ can be installed on the Terminal Server one-time success and the use of diskless terminals directly, and officexp/2003 must be installed in a special way.

4. Install Office software

OFFICC XP installation must be done in a custom file format, we use TCRMSRVR as a custom installed auxiliary software, download it to the workstation hard disk.

Suppose that the installer for Office XP "Setup.exe" is in "GA" and the OfficeXP Custom installation file "Termsrvr." MST "in F:", the installation steps are as follows:

[1] Execute the "Add new program Open" command.

[2] Enter "G:setuptransforms=mf:termsrvr." MST ".

[3] Follow the prompts to complete the operation.

It is important to note that in order to ensure the speed at which OfficeXP is running on diskless terminals, try not to install unnecessary components.

5. Install Input Method

The steps to install the input method are relatively simple., first log in as an administrator on the server side for normal installation. Then use the ordinary end user to log on to the terminal client, enter "My Computer", select "Control Panel", double-click "Keyboard", Pop up the dialog box as shown in Figure 3. Select input locale Add, as shown in Figure 4, in the keyboard layout/IME to choose the installed Wubi font input method, OK.

6. Access to the Internet

The use of diskless workstations to access the Internet, to solve the following problems:

Installing a browser for a diskless workstation is basically similar to installing other applications, sharing the installation directory on the server, mapping the diskless workstation, and then installing it directly over the network.

Install Proxy Server Software on the server so that you can achieve diskless network sharing, as well as file transfer and remote login services within the network. If you use Windows2000 as your operating system, you can use its proxy function directly. In addition, we can also use Wingate, SYGATC, Ccproxy and other traditional proxy server software.

The proxy server software is set up, such as e-mail, FTP, Telnet, Realaudio/video and other service parameters, priority control (priority of the workstation to obtain information), Restricted site control (you can control some workstations can not browse some sites), firewalls, Automatic dialing, etc. to set.
