"Have we completely missed PHP ?", This problem was raised at the New York PHP conference and the 2006 exhibition last week by Mike Burr, a senior IBM developer. IBM has been focusing on long-term applications in the past. Focus on efficiency, ROI, performance, and stability. Software is packaged and sold for senior IT managers.

On the other hand, PHP is considered an application that changes with the environment. It is constantly changing and focuses on effectiveness and faster processing for rapid and temporary deployment. PHP is usually written from the beginning, which is a problem.

Burr said: "No non-experimental PHP application can be installed without human involvement. We want to change this situation ." He said that IBM wants to reinvent PHP to adapt to heavy-weight processes. The difficulty lies in maintaining the special nature of PHP. "We cannot damage what makes PHP meaningful. After all, it has a very long and unique history ."

"Installation is the biggest problem," said Christopher Jones, a technical consultant at Oracle, familiar with PHP. We need to make PHP easy to use, and the core of PHP features are integration, integration, and re-integration ."

To this end, IBM has used the Service Data Object Service Data Objects (SDO) and Service-oriented Component model Service Component Architecture (SCA ). Burr says the goal is to make it as simple as possible for large companies to do.

SDO can operate data regardless of its source. It can unify them into an SOA environment and integrate them with XML. SCA makes it easy to create services, simplify component writing, and automatically upgrade the definition of WSDL. These two standards can be used in PHP application development.

Last week, IBM also launched a PHP integration toolkit for it WebSphere Application Server Community Edition based on the Apache Geronimo project. This toolkit allows developers to use PHP and Java when developing services in SOA.

Another technology recommended by IBM is the deployment of private virtual servers on the ISP. The purpose is to enable LAMP development to perform enterprise-level backup, making the system more stable and secure. In this way, services can reside in personalized formal IT infrastructure.

These technologies will help create enterprise-level PHP for business departments to use in more than specific environments. It makes development in a controlled environment easier.

PHP will become more extensive, Jones said: "We can install PHP in small applications first, and then the large applications will gradually follow ."
