ArcGIS 10.1 product change plan

1. ArcGIS Desktop 10.1

· ArcGIS 10.1 no longer supports Solaris arcreader and ArcGIS Engine;

· ArcGIS 10.1 is the final version that supports arcreader for Linux. It only supports SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (sles 11) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (RHEL 5 ), sles 10, RHEL 4, and earlier versions are not supported;

· ArcGIS Engine 10.1 no longer supports sles 10 and RHEL 4, but sles 11 and RHEL 5;

· The License Manager of ArcGIS 10.1 is planned to be the last version on the Solaris system. ArcGIS License Manager will continue to be supported on Windows and Linux (sles 11 and RHEL 5.

· ArcGIS 10.1 no longer supports VBA (Visual Basic for Applications );

· ArcGIS 10.1 ArcObjects SDK for. Net no longer supports Visual Studio 2008. ESRI recommends that you use Visual Studio 2010 to develop ArcObjects in ArcGIS 10.1;

 

2. ArcInfo Workstation

· It is planned that the new version of ArcInfo Workstation will not be released in ArcGIS 10.1. However, ArcInfo Workstation 10.0 can be used in conjunction with the new version of ArcGIS Desktop 10.1.

 

3. arcIMS

· ArcGIS 10.0 is the last version of ArcIMS. on ArcGIS 10.1, ArcIMS will not be part of the product. However, you can continue to use ArcIMS 10.0. ESRI recommends that you migrate data to the ArcGIS Server product.

 

4. ArcGIS Server 10.1

· It is planned that ArcGIS Server 10.1 is the last version that supports Web ADFs, whether it is Web ADFs for Java or web ADFs for. net. In version 10.1, Web ADFs only modifies key issues without adding new features. ESRI recommends that you migrate data to the ArcGIS Server product.

· ArcGIS Server 10.1 no longer supports Web ADFs applicationsProgramWhen using a local connection (DCOM connection), Web ADFs applications cannot use non-pooled services.

· ArcGIS Server 10.1 is only a service-oriented framework (rest, soap, and OGC). ArcObjects cannot be used through DCOM, for example, Web ADFs applications. Because SOE (Server Object extensions) is enhanced in version 10.1, you can use SOE Based on ArcGIS Server Service in Web ADFs applications to operate ArcObjects, and the performance is enhanced.

· ArcGIS Server 10.1 no longer supports 32-bit operating systems, but only 64-bit operating systems. The most native 64-bit application of ArcGIS Server 10.1 will be allowed on 64-bit compatible hardware.

· ArcGIS Server 10.1 no longer supports sles 10 and RHEL 4, but sles 11 and RHEL 5;

· ArcGIS Server 10.1 no longer supports the Solaris system. As a sub-product of ArcGIS Server 10.1, ArcSDE 10.1 will continue to support the Solaris platform.

· JScript and VBScript are no longer supported on ArcGIS Server 10.1 for Linux, but ArcGIS Server 10.1 for Windows will continue to support the above two versions.

 

5. ArcGIS image server 10.1

· In ArcGIS 10.1, ArcGIS image server is not an independent product, but an image extension of ArcGIS Server.
