How to prepare for Installation
1.
Make sure your computer meets the minimum installation requirements.
Hardware requirements

Processor	Pentium & reg; 1 GHz minimum.
Operating System	Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 or higher Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Microsoft XP Home edition with Service Pack 1 or higher Microsoft XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 1 or higher Microsoft Vista Or a later version of Windows
Internet Explorer	InstallArcGISYou must be sure you have installedInternet assumer6.0Or later.
Memory	1 GB minimum. 2 GB or higher is recommended.

Disk Space Requirements

Disk installation	The installer provides a description of the disk space required by each component.
System Disk	50 MB.

The. NET support is available in ArcGIS Desktop. If you select the typical or complete installation type and your computer has installed. Net framwork 2.0,. net support will be included. If you do not see. Net Support in custom installation, the. NET Framework is not detected on your computer. You can install. NET Framework after installing ArcGIS desktop, and then add or delete ArcGIS
. Net support.
If you need to develop ArcGIS desktop or. NET programs, you can choose to install. net support, which is not required. net support.
Internet Explorer
Some ArcGIS desktop functions, such as arccatalog metadata, thumbnail views, the ArcMap Visual Basic Editor, and Internet map services features (referUsing arccatalogObtainFor more information, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later is required.

Close all running programs.

Open the CD (or use a virtual drive to open the ISO file, or directly Click Startup or setup)

Prompt · Before installing ArcGIS, make sure that Internet Explorer 6.0 or later is installed.

How to install ArcGIS Desktop
1.
Select the first option to install ArcGIS Desktop.

2.
If your computer has installed any products earlier than ArcGIS 9.3 (such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcGIS Server), this prompt appears, you must Uninstall all products earlier than ArcGIS 9.3 to continue the installation. Skip this step if your computer has not installed products earlier than ArcGIS 9.3.

Select accept protocol and click Next.

Select the installation type. For more information, click Next.
This installer can choose to install ArcGIS extension and other components. If the available components for installation include extension, select the complete (complete) or custom (custom) installation type. The complete installation type includes all components, custom allows you to select a specific extension and component. Typical (typical) installation does not include any extension.
You can add or delete components after installing ArcGIS.

Install ArcGIS, Click Browse to select the installation location, and click Next to go to the next step.

The first ArcGISThe installation of the product determines all ArcGISThe installation location of the product.

Prompt · For example, if ArcGIS Desktop is installed to c: \ Desktop \ ArcGIS, If you need to install ArcGIS Engine runtime next time, you will not be able to select another installation path. ArcGIS Desktop determines the installation path of all ArcGIS 9.3 products. Therefore, in this example, arcGIS Engine runtime will be installed to c: \ Desktop \ ArcGIS. · If ArcIMS ArcMap server 9.3 has been installed on your computer, ArcGIS 9.3 will be installed in the installation location of ArcIMS by default. If the disk space is insufficient when installing ArcGIS 9.3, you will need to uninstall all products of ArcGIS 9.3, and select a disk with sufficient space to reinstall. Products of ArcGIS 9.3 (except ArcSDE, ArcIMS, and ArcInfo Workstation) cannot be installed in different locations.

Install python, Click Browse to select the installation location, and click Next to go to the next step.
The ArcGIS Desktop geoprocessing tool requires Python 2.5.1 and numerical Python 1.0.3 to be installed. If ArcGIS Desktop cannot find Python or numerical Python (numpy) on your computer, they will be installed (if you select the complete or typical installation type) (If you select the custom installation type, you can choose not to install Python ). You can select the installation location of Python. The installation location cannot contain "spaces ".

7.
Confirm the installation and click Next.


8.
The installation is in progress. You can click Cancel to cancel the installation at any time.

9.
After the installation is complete, you can register immediately or register later. We recommend that you register immediately.

(If you need to register later, you can view: Start> program> ArcGIS> desktop administrator, select register single use and extensions, and then click Register now .)

How to register
1.
After you select "register", the Registration Wizard Page appears. The license provided by this competition has been packaged together. Select the last one and click Next to go to the next step.

Select the first item, Click Browse, find the license file, and click Next.

Congratulations! Click Finish to complete the installation.


How to use help

Choose Start> program> ArcGIS Desktop Help> ArcGIS desktop help to open the help of ArcGIS Desktop.


For beginners, you can view the content of what's new in ArcGIS and getting started in the directory. in getting started> tutorials, you can view the tutorials (PDF or video) provided by ArcGIS Desktop ), you can learn the basic knowledge and various skills of ArcGIS Desktop.
