Customizing Image sets for Size Classes

ADD images to a set of that is customized for display in different size classes supported by your app.

The application also supports storing images in a custom collection for display in different size classes.
    1. In the set list, select an image set.

    2. Open the utilities area for the workspace window by clicking the Show Utilities button (). /p>

      Click () to display the Workspace window's tool area (utilities areas).

    3. In the Inspector Bar, click the Attributes Inspector button ().

      In the Inspector bar, click the Properties Check button   ().

    4. Choose Universal from the Device pop-up menu.

    5. Choose a specific size class from the Width or Height size pop-up menu or from both.

      After you choose a size class, Xcode adds placeholders for image files in the Set Viewer area.

      When the selection is complete, Xcode adds a placeholder to the picture file in the picture Set View area (set Viewer).

The size class settings for a placeholder image is shown in coded format following the size of the image. the format is [Horizontal size class, Vertical size class]. Each size class can be one of three values:

Size class is a placeholder picture format that displays the dimensions of the picture in an encoded format. The format is [Horizontal Dimension class longitudinal dimension class]. Each dimension class can be one of the following three values:

any size class

Regular size class Regular size classes

Compact Size class

For example, was a 2x resolution image used with a compact horizontal size class and any vertical size class.

For example, 2x[-*] is a twice-fold resolution picture, its size class is compact horizontal size class and longitudinal any size class.

Size classes require IOS 8 or later. If your app is earlier versions of IOS, you can customize image sets for specific devices. See the link in related articles below. Size classes is note supported on OS x.
