Assoc Displays or modifies file name extension associations. If used without parameters, the Assoc command displays a list of all the current file name extension associations.

Assoc [. Ext[=[filetype]]]
Parameters
. ext
Specifies the file name extension.
FileType
Specifies the file type to associate with the specified file name extension.
/?
Display Help at the command prompt.
Comments
If a space is used after the equals sign, the file type association of a filename extension is deleted.
Use the ftype command to view the current file type with the open command string defined.
Use the > redirection operator to redirect Assoc output to a text file.

To view the current file type association for file name extension. txt, type:

To delete a file type association with file name extension. txt, type:
