Companies licensed to test autonomous vehicles in California
Technology companies and carmakers are racing to develop cars that are autonomous and do not require human intervention. The market's interest in this type of car has helped spur the needs of AI and automotive professionals. Unmanned vehicle development is a cost-intensive project that could deter some venture capitalists.
Zoox declined to comment. According to the Wall Street Journal, Hong Kong Asset Management's aid Partners Capital Holdings to invest $20 million in this round of financing for Zoox. Zoom has 140 employees, including Alphabet, Apple, and pre-Tesla employees.
Before becoming low-key, Zoox had shown a motion rendering of an autonomous driving concept car with a low roof and no windshield. Inside the car, the passenger sits face to head, just like in a train compartment. According to the IEEE Spectrum magazine last year, Zoox is seeking to develop driverless cars for a taxi service similar to Uber.
The founder of Zoox includes an Australian designer and a graduate of Stanford University. The Stanford graduate has developed autonomous vehicles with the alphabet Auto-driving project co-founder Sebastian Trons (Sebastian Thrun). In recent months, Zoox has introduced a number of directors, including former Qualcomm Labs President Laurier Yell (Laurie yoler), Apple and former general counsel for Oracle Dan Kupo Cooper (Dan Cooperman).
