Automatic DPM Discovery Overview

People who have used DPM will find that the new domain-joined machine, when the DPM Agent page is installed, is not queried, which is not a problem with the client domain, because in fact the query can be resolved to this computer in the domain, the problem is caused by DPM has not been found, This originates from the DPM automatic discovery mechanism, which scans the Active Directory every day to discover new computers. By default, DPM sets the Autodiscover feature to run the client discovery function at 1 o'clock in the morning every day to list the newly joined machines in the DPM lists, and of course we can choose more appropriate scan and query operations according to the requirements of the enterprise or business to better adapt to the network traffic and various requirements.

The configuration method is actually very simple, as follows:

1, in the DPM Management interface, select the Administration page, in the Action column, under All options, click Options, as shown in the following figure;

2, in the Open "Options" dialog box, click the "Autodiscover" tab, according to the actual situation to adjust the time to run automatic discovery, in this case, we choose DPM to run the automatic discovery time of 22:00, after the selection is completed, click the "OK" button, Then DPM will query the Active Directory once every 22:00 of the day to discover new computers.

3. At this point, the DPM Automatic discovery function is configured to complete.
